Support Chick-fil-A today!!!!!!!! I hear that the lines started early this morning all over Jacksonville. Time to get out and support them..When did it NOT become okay for any business to state their postion on their companies values??

The following is from the Huff Post - Religion:

Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and Fox News host, has had enough of what he called the "vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry" aimed at Chick-fil-A.

On his Facebook page, Huckabee announced that Aug. 1 will be "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," a day on which he is encouraging people to patronize the fast food chain.

SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE

The former presidential candidate is upset that the fast food chicken chain has been the target of criticism in the wake of Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's saying last week that his company supports "the biblical definition of the family unit."

The National Organization for Marriage, a group organized to oppose same-sex marriage, called him a "corporate hero for marriage," while others were quick to condemn his comments.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino even went so far as to tell the Boston Herald that "Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston."

"You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population," he said, according to the Herald. "We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion."

And on Friday, the Jim Henson Company, the group behind "The Muppets" and "Fraggle Rock," released a statement saying it has "notified Chick-fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors." Jim Henson's "Creature Shop" toys are currently available in the company's kid's meals.

Huckabee further explained the purpose of his pro-Chick-fil-A campaign on his Facebook Page:

The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant.

State Sen. Dan Patrick (R-Texas) and the group Concerned Women for America have promoted the event, which is not affiliated with Chick-fil-A.

Ken, my fingers are dyslexic also. We do not rely upon tradition , we rely upon the law. And I was talking about convicted murderers, rapists, pedophiles, etc. have the right to marry. Sandusky could divorce his wife tomorrow and marry any woman he chooses the next day. Government has no business in our personal lives. I am for government that protects the rights of people, not orginizations or groups. Protect the citizen first. Provide for citizens. Develop citizens, nothing else will make us stronger as a country. People united for a common greatness.

Ken, we allow murderers, rapists, pedophiles, prisoners, sex workers and many others to get married. So what is reason again that we don't allow gays to get married. Because God said so. Well here is a news flash, we aren't a theocracy. We aren't dictated by the Bible, Torah, Koran or any other religious tome. We are governed by the Constitution.

Now, if your church doesn't want to hold ceremonies to marry any two people, that is your church's right. But you do not get have your church's beliefs imposed on others.

But you have to choose between big government and little government. Theocracy and a republic.

Ken wrote>>>Paul Davis swallowed the government propaganda hook, line, and sinker.  I wonder if one of his other aliases is Barry Soetoro, or Obama, or Frank Marshall Davis or which other one.

My views and beliefs are generally consistent with John Locke, Edmund Burke, David Hume and the first 325 years of Christian writings. In other words, I am a proponent of good, efficient and responsible government.

That places me directly at oddson some points with the true discples of Glen Beck, Ayn Rand, Joseph Smith, Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, and such like.

Ken, that is a great question. Yes we get the government out of the marriage business. So support gay marriage or not, we value the government not being involved in our choosing of our partners. With that as our position, thus we support gay marriage not because we agree with it, because we choose to not have the state involved. So that is one way to protect our families rights to live their lives as they choose.

One more thing on gay marriage. The Libertarian Party supports their right to marry. And we allow murderers to marry. Rapists, pedophiles, the mentally disabled, sex offenders, prisoners, sex workers, all these people can marry. Further, you can end a marriage in an hour and do so as a serial offender. Newt Gingrich opposes gay marriages yet treats his own as disposable. Let's do real things to protect families.

Patricia, I think the only way is to speak to each person we meet, with calm and thoughtful words and ask them questions with true answers.  When they say gov't does it, say "where does gov't get the money to pay for it?"... We change one mind at a time, one vote at a time.. And we need to remember that a person may not be on board 100%, but willing to see that Obama is not the choice for our country...  One person can make a difference.

John just because we won't pay our bills, an issue in just the last thirty years, does not mean these do not work.

Lizzie, you make many, many good points. How in heavens name though to you get folks to see that we need to rid outselves of the incumbants. They are part and parcel to the mess we are in. It is so discouraging when you talk to some people, because they truly have no idea the mess our country is in or what is going to happen if they vote for Obama in the next election. This truly is the make or break election and right now, anyone who does not believe as he does is considered a terrorist. If you see the list of what is considered a terrorist according to the group that puts it together it actually includes anyone who is a patriotic American and doesn't like what the current group is doing. Totally sick as even Romney would be considered one, Allen West is one, and so many others. Only wack job liberals aren't pretty much!

Wilbur and Orville Wright made their historic first
powered flight on December 17, 1903, from Kill Devil Hill in Kitty Hawk, North
Carolina. The longest of four flights that day lasted 59 seconds and covered a
distance of 852 feet.

The Wrights began trying to sell their invention in January 1905. The British War Office had been following the Wrights' experiments since December 1902, and sent a representative to visit them in Dayton in October 1904. On January 10, 1905, the Wrights wrote a letter to a British military officer offering to sell an airplane that could carry two men 50 miles without refueling. The Wrights requested no payment until they had successfully completed a series of test flights. They asked for 500 British pounds for each mile covered in the test flight, which, at the exchange rate at the time, meant that at 50 miles the price would be equivalent to $125,000. The British Royal Engineer Committee wrote back that the Wrights had not yet sufficiently proven the capabilities of their machine, but that the British military attaché in Washington would visit them to witness a test flight.7

On January 18, 1905, the Wrights made a similar proposal to the U.S. War Department through their congressman, who had promised to personally deliver it to the Secretary of War. The proposal said:

Hon. R. M. Nevin Washington, D.C.

Dear Sir:

The series of aeronautical experiments upon which we have been engaged for the past five years has ended in the production of a flying machine of a type fitted for practical use. It not only flies through the air at high speed, but it also lands without being wrecked. During the year 1904 one hundred and five flights were made at our experimenting station at Huffman prairie, east of this city, and though our experience in handling the machine has been too short to give any high degree of skill, we nevertheless succeeded, toward the end of the season, in making two flights of five minutes each, in which we sailed round and round the field until a distance of about three miles had been covered, at a speed of thirty-five miles an hour. The first of these record flights was made on November 9th, in celebration of the phenomenal political victory of the preceding day, and the second on December 1st, in honor of the one hundredth flight of the season.

The numerous flights in straight lines, in circles, and over “S” shaped courses, in calm and in winds, have made it quite certain that flying has been brought to a point where it can be made of great practical use in various ways, one of which is that of scouting and carrying messages in time of war. If the latter features are of interest to our Government, we shall be pleased to take up the matter either on a basis of providing machines of agreed specification, at a contract price, or, of furnishing all the scientific and practical information we have accumulated in these years of experience, together with a license to use our patents; thus putting the Government in a position to operate on its own account.

If you can find it convenient to ascertain this is a subject of interest to our own Government, it would oblige us greatly, as early information on this point will aid us in making our plans for the future.

Respectfully yours,
Wilbur and Orville Wright8

Roma, don't have an answer to your question except to say there are many who consider themselves "conservative" because, for example, they don't suppport abortion.  But many of those same folks really think government does something, when in truth the government takes money from one group, pays workers of its' own to 'manage' that stolen money, and then they give it so someone else who then use their ambition and intelligence to DO something.   In other words, gov't takes money from the smart, successful guy.. lets an inefficient gov't worker manage the money, then gov't gives it back to the smart ambitious guy to make money so they can then take it away...

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
