I spent the entire weekend with my mother.  She is dealing with cancer and we are taking care of her in our home.  She had a pretty good weekend but could not be left alone.  I really needed to work but spent a lot of time in her room watching old movies and spending time with her.  Sometimes you just have to stop and rest so you can go another day.

Little did I know that while I watched the movies, I would see signs that had to do with my “head talk about Liberty.”

One of the movies we watched was about the little girl, Amber, who was abducted off her bike, sexually abused and murdered.  That little girl’s mother used the most horrible experience of her life to make a difference for others.  She went to her local city council, her state legislators, her Governor (George Bush) and to the President (Clinton) to encourage them to enact the Amber Alert bill.  She wanted to make sure no other child would endure what Amber did.

We all know the outcome of her passion to alert the community of a child abduction.  When the TV signals an Amber Alert, we all perk up, watch intently and take note of the description of the one who stole our children.  We pay attention to our surroundings and we report if we see something that might save them from a horrible ending.  Because of Amber Alerts, many children have been saved and there are many happy endings.  Amber’s mother must certainly find joy in those happy endings.

As I watched that movie, with tears for Amber and her mother, I realized we are similar to Amber’s mom.  We are passionate about those who are abducting our liberties.  We write blogs, we make videos, we write letters to the newspapers and we contact our representatives.  We do our part yet Liberty is still in peril in America.

Today, we will begin a posting called Liberty Alerts.  These alerts will come from various organizations that are doing their part to alert us to losses of liberty here in America. 

Take a few moments out of your day and become educated about the erosion of your God-given freedoms.  You must do all you can to protect them AND to protect them for the children who are so young and need us to stand in the gap for them. 

These are your children, your grandchildren, your nieces and nephews or even your neighbors’ children.  They are precious and looking to us to secure their liberties forevermore.
