They're the people who make the community a better place. People who spend their time making a difference in the lives of many.
You know who they are. Now tell us.
The Times-Union is seeking nominations for our 10 Who Make a Difference for 2010. We're looking for examples of the unsung heroes you typically don't hear much about.
Last year, we received dozens of nominations for the inaugural campaign and really struggled to select just 10. Among the winners:
- Pat Bloebaum, who formed the "Bag Ladies," a group that makes welcome bags for children who stay at a domestic violence shelter.
- Judy Edwards, who helped organize a local Blue Star Moms chapter to support mothers who children have served or are serving in the military.
- And Cameron Moore, who founded Lucky Cat Adoptions, which relies on a network on foster homes to care for cats before they are adopted.
So, send us your nominations, with information about why the person should be one of our 10 Who Make a Difference. Make sure to include how you can be contacted during the day.
A panel will choose this year's winners, who will be featured in stories early in 2011.
Send nominations to makeadifference@jacksonville.com or mail them to: Make a Difference, c/o Julie Kanner, P.O. Box 1949, Jacksonville, FL 32231.
The deadline is noon Friday, Jan. 14.

They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
