A state audit this year admonished a Florida State College at Jacksonville administrator, saying his second job as a senior vice president at a New Jersey college where he sold a product was a potential conflict of interest.
Donald Green worked as a temporary senior vice president at Essex County College in Newark, N.J., from fall 2010 through spring of 2011 while also serving as FSCJ’s executive vice president for instruction and services.
The contract with Essex began shortly after Green sold the college a textbook program, called Sirius, funded by a federal grant and led by FSCJ.
Florida statutes say that “no employee should have a contractual relationship with any business entity that is subject to the regulation of, or is doing business with, an agency of which he or she is an officer or employee,” according to the audit.
The state told the college in its January audit to ensure that conflicting employment or contractual relationships are prohibited.
