Since the NAACP (Al Sharpton and others) is treating this like a cold blooded murder, and we are treated to pictures of this young man when he was 9 or 10 rather than as he looks now which is quite different and more ominous to someone, it tends to slant how people feel about this case, and the media has made a circus of it when the facts are not even yet known. The NAACP also voiced concerns about Angela Corey being the lead investigator on the case. http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/2012-03-23/story/naacp-has-some-... And then, of course, Obama has weighed in, and I, for one, am still scratching my head trying to figure out what possible bearing this young man possibly looking like the son he does not have could possibly have on this case..............or even why he felt the need to weigh in on this case at all from the federal level. Now, however, a witness has come forward who has indicated, Mr. Zimmerman had a right to be fearful for his life which throws a totally different light on things, and we will have to carefully watch how this investigation moves forward since this case is now in the national spotlight.
Maybe George Zimmerman did act in self-defense when he shot and killed Trayvon Martin, whose death Feb. 26 in Sanford, Florida, has been the focus of a media and political circus that even included Barack Obama weighing in this week.
An eyewitness to the incident told police Martin was beating Zimmerman before he shot him.
Zimmerman had called 911 to report the suspicious activities of a youth in his neighborhood, telling the dispatcher that he was following Martin.
On the recording of another 911 call, repeated cries of “help” can be heard before the gunshot.
The witness, identified only as John, says those cries were made by Zimmerman who was on the ground being beaten by Martin.
“The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: ‘help, help … and I told him to stop and I was calling 911,” he said.
Martin was wearing a gray hoodie, while Zimmerman was wearing red.
“When I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point,” John said.
Zimmerman claimed the shooting was self-defense. Zimmerman said he was going back to his SUV when he was attacked by the teen. Sanford police say Zimmerman was bloody in his face and head, and the back of his shirt was wet and had grass stains, indicating a struggle took place before the shooting.
Meanwhile, the attack has been portrayed by most media outlets as a racist, vigilante-style assault by Zimmerman – a half-Hispanic, half-white, self-style neighborhood crime-watch captain – on an innocent role-model black teen-ager carrying only a cell phone and some Skittles.
Obama weighed in on the shooting Friday, saying the incident requires all Americans to “do some soul searching.”

So sad John, the more that comes out you realize how badly Zimmerman has been treated given he is probably sick at heart about killing someone (anyone). Very unfair to go after this guy just to keep poop flying and people distracted from the real issues going on just now!
More information has surfaced. The fact Zimmerman is a long time democrat which is not a material thing (but conservatives and republicans were blamed for this whole situation as they are for everything), and as for the racist element being injected into this...... It seems Mr. Zimmerman was helping a young single black mother with 2 children and acting as an advisor for her, and he was actively involved in assisting a black church in the area do fund raising for their church................ Apparently, Mr. Zimmerman was very active in the community as well as having volunteers to be the community watch person for his gated community.
And as John asked, under what law can we find your learned statements? Or is this just a black/white thing and if the person killed was black (not matter what happened) the other guy, if he was white, is at fault?
So, even though Martin approached him as he was getting into his vehicle, and he broke his nose and tried to kill him, because he had a gun, he is responsible? Is that right Amanda? Just trying to figure this out, because that is not the law, and I am trying to figure out if you and your liberal friends are rewriting that too? In this state, the stand your ground law says, if something like this happens, you do not have to just take it and not fight back...................... Zimmerman was leaving and he was attacked, but you think that was ok, and Zimmerman is at fault. Do I have that right? What law are you quoting from?
One last time, if you leave the security of your vehicle, your home, your business, whatever, in order to attempt to stop someone who is not committing a crime...armed with a weapon... you are fully accountable for everything that happens from that point forth. Everything. There is nothing that happens from that point forward for which you are not directly accountable. That IS the law. You assume all the risk.
Mark, I agree, and I still don't think, even with the information that has come out, that we know everything even now, but now at least I understand why Zimmerman wasn't arrested immediately as they would have done if it were as clear cut as some would have us believe. The police are doing their jobs, and my vote is we let them do it and not jump to any conclusions until we actually know everything. And yes, Mark, Mr. Zimmerman was doing something commendable and not many people are willing to take on that kind of responsibility to help protect their neighbors.
It appears to me that Zimmerman, being involved with a Neighborhood watch program, wanted to help protect his neighborhood. That is commendable. More people should get involved and not be afraid to speak up when they see suspicious activity. If you choose to dress like a gang member, you may get more attention, or you will most likely be targeted by another gang in a drive-by shooting. If Zimmerman was being beaten, or was fearful for his life, he had the right to use lethal force. We weren't there, we don't know what his perception was. And I don't think he was being beaten by an innocent 10 year old child with his candy, like the media would have you believe. I believe, in this case, the media is inciting violence. And Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are definately not lending credibility to Mr. Martin.
And that Amanda is why they have not arrested Mr. Zimmerman, because there is NO probable cause. He was defending his own life which he has a right to do, and of course, he would feel bad about killing someone even if he was defending himself. Any one would feel awful about taking the life of another person no matter the reason, but it doesn't make them guilty of murder.
And I suppose you have also heard that Martin came at Zimmerman, beat him, pounded his head into the pavement, broke his nose and Mr. Zimmerman was hollering for help at the time and the eye witness went to call 911. After Martin beat the crap out of Zimmerman, he walked away and then, turned and put his hand towards his waistband leading Zimmerman to believe he was going to be shot and killed. At that point, he pulled his gun and shot Martin. Now, Amanda, go turn on Good Morning America or whatever reliable source you are listening to and stop saying Mr. Zimmerman is guilty. Right now, from where I am sitting he was fearful for his life, and because of people like you and the liberal media, the NAACP and the New Black Panthers, Mr. Zimmerman has had to go into hiding because he is once again fearful for his life. Shame on you for playing judge and jury when you do not have all the facts, and I suspect we still don't, but we know more now than we did know.
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
