From my perspective, we need to say a big thank you to both Councilmen Crescimbeni and Gulliford.  The state has now changed the laws regards these appointments, and our city council can make this change legally and should.  I think the group currently in charge have not done a good job, and it is time to replace them and get some fresh people and ideas and management of this fund.  What is you take?

Jacksonville City Council members are thinking about shaking up the Police and Fire Pension Fund’s board of trustees.

Minutes from a meeting this week say members Bill Gulliford and John Crescimbeni asked a city lawyer to draft a bill that would end the trustee tenures of former Sheriff Nat Glover along with longtime members Peter Sleiman and Barbara Jaffe.

Sleiman and Jaffee were both appointed by a succession of council presidents. Glover was picked by the other four trustees for a slot called the fifth member.

Police and firefighters elect one trustee each.

Gulliford already had filed a resolution asking the Duval Legislative Delegation to change the trustee system next year to make the fifth member a council appointee.

All of this was news to pension fund administrator John Keane, who said he didn’t want to comment until he knew some details.

“I’m completely in the dark about it and have not had any conversation from anyone,” Keane said.

This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
