Read the attached file - this was written on Duval County School Board equipment (paid for with your tax dollars) at her work place downtown in the admin building. What she says about the tea party is all false allegations and appears to be written solely to stir up hatred in those that read it. We trust DCSB will handle this misuse of public property. Is this a hate crime?  What do YOU think of this?

I would ask the Duval County School Board for an explanation. This was printed on their letterhead, sent out by one of their employees. Is this DCSB's official position on the Tea Party?
Sounds like hate speech and slander to me, and probably grounds for a class action lawsuit. Does FCTP have a lawyer?
I wrote my school district board member the following:

"I am a long time Duval County active voter living in District 6. I saw an account of the partisan and extremely derogatory political email sent by Cynthia Jones-Humphrey to unknown recipients during October via a Duval County School Board computer on Channel 4 news. I also downloaded and read her email.

Had this person sent this type of email in the private sector, she probably would have been severely reprimanded or possibly fired depending on company policy.

First, I want to know exactly what type of disciplinary action, if any, is going to take place. Second, exactly what is the Duval County School Board policy that covers situations like this? I can find none. If there is no policy, then one should be written.

Partisan political activity has no legitimate place in a taxpayer supported institution. If Ms. Jones-Humphrey feels that strongly about supporting her favorite political party, then she should resign her taxpayer-funded job and run for office."

To date, the school board member responded with a reply that the employee in question was removed from her position pending an investigation. The board member also indicated that the policy does not permit any political activity on school property. I asked to be notified of the results of the investigation.
I saw it on my iPhone Fox News App while I was at YouthQuake Live www.youthquakelive.com . See you at the December 7, 2010 6:00 pm Regular Board Meeting.

Has the school board issued a press release about this?

We must be be aware...Message to Democrats: circulating on the net... Since Before October 2, 2010 http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/we-must-be-be-awaremessage-to...

None that I know of. I think Channel 4 did get a follow up response from a school board spokesman that they reported. There will probably be some type of comment by the school board when the investigation is completed.
If I get a response from the school board member I wrote, then I will share it this discussion.

I would ask to have a face to face meeting with the head of the school board, not a spokesman. I would ask him/her directly: Is what is expressed in this email policy of the DCSB?
If the DSCB will not meet with you, convene a press conference. Invite the local media. Hold up the letter, and tell the public that the DCSB will not meet with you or answer your question.
This email came out of a DSCB listserve, they are responsibel for it's contents until they disavow it. Having an 'investigation' is just stalling. They want you to get tired and go away.

You should not be impatient. Allow the system to work. All organizations have some type of protocol in place to deal with most negative situations.
The time to make demands is when it becomes obvious that nothing is going to be done. The school board is not at that point yet.

You are going to get more accomplished if you go through whatever process that is followed and then hold their feet to the fire if nothing is done. You cannot ASSUME nothing is being done at this point. Wait for the proof.

Otherwise, you and the Tea Party are going to be accused of jumping the gun and that does not lend credibility to the organization.

What is the goal here? Demand "something be done" immediately or effect a meaningful change? I would opt for the latter.

The context of this message is disturbing to say the least; however, what is even more disturbing is that this perception exists in our public school system. This woman felt confident, and apparently justified, within the public school system to both use the letterhead and attach her full contact information to disseminate this message.
Furthermore, critical thinking and objective observation are absent in the minds of such individuals, so any attempt to reason with such an individual is unlikely; the real gorilla in the room.
Both points are very true. But it is the school board that is ultimately responsible for the actions of one it's employees. They can simply fire the person who sent the email, or re-assign her somewhere, and let the matter drop, hoping that we will be satisfied. But that will not resolve the issue, and that is the point you made in paragraph one. The school board created an atmosphere where this behavior was tolerated and it must be addressed. FCTP has an opportunity now to bring this issue to The People.
I totally agree with Debbie on this - has this kind of thing been going on in the school system so long this woman felt confident and comfortable when she wrote this email and sent it with no fear of any disipline? Is all this happening because this is the first time it leaked outside DCSB? Also she sent it out with obivilously NO knowledge of the Tea Party - if she had even bothered to look at the list of speakers from the various rallies she would have seen she was wrong. I would like to know WHO is feeding this kind of garbage to our community and why they accept it with no questions ask. It would tend to indicate it was someone they really trust. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The best way to handle this situation is to bring it to light, as Billie is doing, and then hold the school district accountable for a response.

If this isn't a hate crime, I don't know what is. On a somewhat lighter note, recently our TEA Party here in Flagler County had a table at our local Creekside Festival. We were the most popular display at that festival, which was surprising and wonderful all at the same time. However, there was one man who came by with this wife early in the morning. She browsed through our literature and turned to ask him if he was interested in reading any of it. His response was to call us "bigots, racists and Nazis" in a very loud manner.

I'd be lying if I said I never want to go through that again. This man was quite angry. What if he had physically attacked us?

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
