What: Mende cultural and film festival

When: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 29                                       

Where: The Corazon Cinema and Café, 36 Granada St., St. Augustine

Tentative film and festival schedule 

10:30 a.m. "Florida Crossroads: Underground Railroad" (30 minutes)

11 a.m. "Language You Cry In" (53 minutes)

Noon: Geechee Gullah Ring Shouters

1 p.m. Basket making demonstration 

1:30-2 p.m. Quilt making demonstration/rice history 

2 p.m. "Bin Yah: There's No Place Like Home" (57 minutes)

3 p.m. Blacksmith demonstration 

4- 6 p.m. Discussion about those killed in the shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C.; a showing of "Stay in da Boat" (27 minutes) and other presentations. 

 6-10 p.m. More performances and speeches, including information from Griffin Lotson about the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor.
