Come join us for our much anticipated April 4th event with our guest speaker Carla Miller! Carla is Jacksonville's only ethics officer and she has a lot of interesting information to share with us. Please note this meeting will take place at the Southeast Branch Library as I expect a larger crowd than our office can handle. Please try to RSVP, as we will be providing snack type foods and of course, tea. Here is some information about Carla:
Carla Miller was appointed to be the City's Ethics Officer by Mayor Peyton in 2007. She has worked to train our elected officials in ethics and handles the city's "hotline", taking hundreds of calls from citizens and employees on ethics matters.
She is a Gator and a Seminole, as she received her B.A. degree in Criminology from FSU and her law degree from University of Florida.
After law school, Carla was a federal prosecutor here in Jacksonville and was responsible for political corruption cases--she prosecuted and convicted the President of the Florida Senate for mail fraud and extortion.
She has also studied international law in Cambridge, England and is a fellow in government ethics at the UNF Ethics Center.
Carla is the founder of City Ethics--an international organization involved in ethics in municipalities. She has worked with the Iraqi Governement in anti-corruption and recently, trained and worked with the City Council of the District of Columbia.
She will be here April 4th to talk about ethics in Jacksonville government, and what our group can do to help.
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
