We have listened to the candidates in debates, speeches and ads but are their words

in line with their record, or like most politicians are they just saying what they think we

want to hear?

Most of us don't have the time to do extensive research on them, but someone has done it for us! The following is a link to a pdf document that summarizes the history of all of them.

http://www.southernnh912.com/sites/default/files/PresidentialCandid...

Obama got elected by people listening to his well prepared speeches read from a teleprompter. With the aid of the progressive media his dark past was well hidden.

Let's not do the same thing again. The pdf file gives a matrix of each candidates

history and position an all major issues with links to documents to support them.

Download a copy and compare their words with their actions.

Sorry Robert, but I didn't see Buddy Roemer on the list.

I’m not surprised as the chairman if the Florida Republican Party pulled him from our primary ballot. So, I’ll just have to write him in as he is the best in the GOP has. He is the only candidate that has been a Governor, a Congressman, a successful business man, a Christian, and why hasn’t he been in the debates and pulled from the Florida primary?

He doesn’t raise campaign money from corporations (never has), just from "we the people" with a campaign contribution of $100 or less. Far too often politics are corrupted by funding from special interests and big money, and some like it that way. If you haven’t heared about him, you will as his support is growing every day, even without millions coming from sponsored PACs with secret moneys.

I for one, believe that corporations are not poeple, and should have no voice in politics. Shareholders, employees, customers, we have that right, and our rights are all equal under the Constitution.

He is the straightest, most standup for the rights of Americans guy running as far as I know.

Rob;

I never heard of Buddy Roemer. But there are others in the same boat, e.g. Gary Johnson. I suspect / believe it is the republican "establishment" that do their best to keep constitutional conservatives hidden from view. That's why I am an independent.

I think you're right. The established party line does get in the way and it bothers me a lot. I'm mostly an indepentent myself, but registered this time as a Republican so I could have a voice in the primary for the values I support for a better America. If you have a chance you may want to see this interview with Buddy Roemer on CBS yesterday and see what I mean.

"Few men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder."
George Washington

The majority of republicans, most democrats put themselves first, the party second and God and the country last!

I agree with you "corporations are not people" and should have no voice in politics. I believe that only registered voters should be allowed to make political campaign donations and only in limited amounts that the average voter can afford. As long as unions, businesses and lobbyists etc. are allowed to make enormous donations we will continue to have "the best government money can buy".

Robert, I think you and I are the same page!

Thanks for posting this, Robert. It's a great help and I'm sending to my friends via email.

It is all well and good to focus on candidates, but the fundamental problem in the Republican party is the elite who control the party machinery.

I have been convinced for a very long time that the Republican elite has never embraced conservative principles and will find ways to marginalize conservative candidates, co-opt them or get rid of them altogether.

This is not going to change until the Republican party is changed from within.  That kind of change, short of an internal revolution, is going to take a very long time to accomplish.

The greatest problem for us all is the corrupt political culture in Washington.  When I look at both political parties, many times I think I am seeing two sides of the same coin.  Sure, many Democrats have morphed into raging leftists, but at the same time Democrats and Republicans have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo.  It takes a great deal of character to resist being seduced by the perks and privileges that come with holding office.

The ultimate question is how can we change the status quo?  The Tea Party is essentially an agent for change and the Republican elite knows this.  They will be doing everything in their power to keep us and the candidates we support on the sidelines.

Forget a third party.  Both the Democrats and the Republicans have written election laws so that it is very difficult for any third politcal party to gain traction.  This is by design because they don't want the competition!

Any third party candidate will ultimately split the Republican vote and give Obama a second term in November.

Lee; That's why we need a plan B. Besides defeating Obama it is also at least equally important to elect sound conservatives to congress. If we can get a majority of conservatives in both houses of congress they can stop

Husseins dictatorship and undo the damage he has created. I fear that the democrats will do anything to steal the election for Oboma, and if they succeed we need a congress that will impeach him the day they are sworn in.

Thanks for the doc. It makes interesting reading, especially for someone like me who hasn't been following the debates too closely. It helped me rule out two candidates without much effort.

Robert, thank you for posting this document.

FYI - Florida is a closed primary state.  If you are not a registered republican, you will not be able to participate in the Presidential Preference Primary on January 31st.  The deadline to change party registration is January 3rd.  I am not suggesting, but merely offering information.

Here's another gem of a resource. The voting index.

Each index scores all 535 members of Congress on 10 key votes on a scale of 0% to 100%. The more the Representatives and Senators adhere to the Constitution in their votes, the higher their scores on this index.

Good link Robert
There is always much talk (not with you guys) to elect someone who is "electable".  Well...
Here is what Ayn Rand (who lived through Stalin) said about voting for the lesser of two evils:
"There are two sides to every issue: one side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil. The man who is wrong still retains some respect for truth, if only by accepting the responsibility of choice. But the man in the middle is the knave who blanks out the truth in order to pretend that no choice or values exist, who is willing to sit out the course of any battle, willing to cash in on the blood of the innocent or to crawl on his belly to the guilty, who dispenses justice by condemning both the robber and the robbed to jail, who solves conflicts by ordering the thinker and the fool to meet each other halfway. In any compromise between food and poison, it is only death that can win. In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit. In that transfusion of blood which drains the good to feed the evil, the compromiser is the transmitting rubber tube . . .

When men reduce their virtues to the approximate, then evil acquires the force of an absolute, when loyalty to an unyielding purpose is dropped by the virtuous, it’s picked up by scoundrels—and you get the indecent spectacle of a cringing, bargaining, traitorous good and a self-righteously uncompromising evil."

There has been much talk about electing the lesser of two evils because they are "electable." Please remember, Bachmann, Rand Paul, Allen West were not electable , but the Tea Party made them electable, not the GOP.

No candidate is perfect.  But elect the best available person for the job...even if not so called electable, which is nothing more than a GOP label to control the vote.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
