Neighborhood Tea Party - Northside

Group of like-minded patriots living in and around the northside area of Jacksonville.

  • J. Crosby

Loved the attendance at the very first meeting held on the Northside last night!  If we all just invite 2 each month and try to at least bring one (go get them, take the work out of it for them), before you know it, we'll have to find a much larger place.  (Hmmmm, that could be bad, Hunter's BBQ is great).
  • J. Crosby

Hi Thomas, the meetings are every third Monday of the month, so far, still to be held at Hunters BBQ, starting at 6-7 p.m. for eats and meeting members.  7-8:30 for the meeting and updates.  Hope this info helps.  Welcome to the group.
  • Valerie Sawyer

Thank you for answering Tom's question. Sorry I'm  late to the discussion. Yep, third Monday of each month at Hunter's  BBQ on New Berlin Road. Next meeting will be Monday, April 18th. Our speaker will be Jerry Merckel, a science professor from UNF. We will be discussing global warming and the Japanese disaster and how all that is being spun in the media. Should be good stuff! Thanks to ALL who have been attending!
  • J. Crosby

Unless otherwise posted, the meeting will be on the 18th of this month at 6 to 7 pm for eats and meeting with others, then at 7 to 8:30 the meeting will take place.  The meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month and the times and place is the same until otherwise noted.  Hope to see you there.

I don't know about anyone else, but these calls regarding an energy analysis that the government has provided up to $3,800 that "you may qualify for" are driving me crazy.  There must be about a dozen different companies that are willing to come out, at no cost to you, and determine whether you qualify for the government money, so that you can contribute to "saving energy" for yourself, but more importantly, the earth.  I've tried to tell these marketers that any money that the government is giving away comes out of our pockets and that I'm not interested.  Most of the time, their answers are the same, "well, don't you, at least, want to get some of your money back?"  They just don't understand........
  • Freda Colley

Missed the April meeting. Was wondering if one has been scheduled for May?
  • J. Crosby

If nothing changes, it will be May 16th, 6-7 pm for eats then 7-8:30 for the actual meeting.  Come get to know members during the eating, also the food is great at Hunter's BBQ!  (So far, if nothing changes it will  always be the third Monday, 6-7 eats, 7-8:30 meeting, Hunter's BBQ on New Berlin Rd)

  • Valerie Sawyer

Thank you Jeanne!  Yes, Freda, we will be meeting May 16th and our speaker will be Hank Madden, a wonderful local conservative financial expert.  You will really enjoy hearing him.  Looking forward to seeing everybody!
  • Arthur Crounse

I am Lost here, When is the next meeting after May 8th. I live on Grover Rd. 32226 and belong to the Tea Party on southside, yet to far to commute.   Mac Crounse  904-751-9313
  • Marty Cleghorn

I believe the next meeting is June 13th but Valerie will answer for sure - she and Joshua have been great as "Leaders".  And I too am in zip code 32226 and this New Berlin Road location is perfect.  Plus you can eat or have a beverage and inhale the fragrance of good BBQ.
  • J. Crosby

From my understanding, the meetings are always going to be the 3rd Monday of each month.  Food and friendship 6 p.m.- 7 p.m.  Meeting from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Unless something has changed or changes during the month unexpectedly, these are the times.

I must share this and if all of us like minded folks were to be like this to one another, then we could overcome those that want to run over us.  May 25th my son was had my car in Mandarin, it broke down and it was pushed into the Mandarin Senior Citizens Center.  After trying for about 2 1/2 hrs to jump it off, we decided at 9:30 p.m. to leave it there until the next day when we could get a new battery.  Well, when we got back the next day at around 5:15, it was gone.  Called the police, they had no record of it being towed, wrote it up as stolen and after lots of trouble and a week later, the guy that had towed my car from the Senior Center called the police station to ask why hadn't someone called in for their car?  Good news - my car is recovered, but you will never guess what is happening to the fellow that called to ask why no one was calling about it.  He is being hounded by the JSO for not calling in the tow when it happened.  But the thing about it is he did call it in when he got the call from the center.   Another thing is that the Center is public property and they have to give 72 hrs warning about an abandoned auto before towing one.  So now I'm trying to get Fred at C&L Automotive and towing, 4990 Philips Hwy out of having to go to court.  I've had to write a letter, after calling and asking the officer to drop this.  C&L didn't charge me for the tow or the storage for the week and one reason is because he said that all the stickers that I have on the back of my car, he knew that something mechanical or hopefully not, bad had happened 'cause we were like minded people.  I have "I am We the People", "I see Debt, people", Fair Tax, "Stand up, be American", and a few others on the back.  But folks, if you work near this place, give them your business, their honest, hard working people that believe like we do.  They even give GOP discounts, can you believe it?  Their number is 730-4661.  I'm not related, this is not a MLM scheme, or anything else that you could think of.  It's was just one good American doing something good for someone else. ME!!  Thank you, C&L Automotive and towing.
  • Valerie Sawyer

That's awesome Jeanne!  It's so hard to find a good mechanic.  We need to pass the word on the ones we do find.

And, yes, our meetings are the third Monday of each month.  This month's meeting will be June 20th.  I have asked Jerry Holland to come be our speaker and give us a wrap-up on the recent election, but haven't heard back from him yet.

  • J. Crosby

Andrew Breitbart just outed NY-D /Rep. Weiner in front of the podium upon being asked by journalists, what Breitbart thought about Rep. Weiner's statements about Breitbart.  WOW--what a guy Andrew Breitbart is!!  He got up there, said it took him and his group of investigators 4 hrs. to prove that the picutures "are indeed" those of Rep. Weiner.  He will not expose the photo to the "media" to protect Weiner's family of the embrassment or if Rep. Weiner didn't apologize for any derogatory remarks he had made of Breitbart or wanted to figth this out.  But, if indeed, Weiner tried to fight this out, then Breitbart will expose the photos.  HOORAY for Breitbart!!!  Once again, he has proven the corruption in our government and especially, when recently Weiner was just on his latest rampage about how "no one is smart enough" to understand the strength of Obama and his ideals.
  • Valerie Sawyer

Remember, we have changed our meetings to the SECOND MONDAY of each month, so our next meeting will be August 8 at Hunter's BBQ.  Hope to see you there!

  • Marty Cleghorn

Yes, it was a good meeting and 9/12 should be a good starting point for the next year.  I'm SURE those of us who can will be marching in D. C. in SEPT 2012 making sure our voices are heard.  I feel some excitement, even hope that we can change the course this country is on - starting with bringing in more fiscal conservatives.
  • Thomas S Duncan

What happened to the meeting at Hunters BBQ last night?  I showed up and there was a sign on the door saying the meeting had been canceled due to some problems and that there had been a notification email sent out.  I did not receive the email.  What happened?
  • Marty Cleghorn

Yes there was a late email notice that with the debate time from 8:00 - 10:00 (instead of earlier as thought) too many folks had conflicets.  Sorry you didn't get the notice, Thomas, (I saw it just in time)!  Next meeting had not yet been confirmed by Valerie but will be an important one as we'll have had another debate to watch in the meantime and our choices get a little more fine tuned.
  • Mary Rehm

I was at Hunters also. There was also a group of people there that are not members but were looking forward to joining.  I gave them the websit to join. I also did not receive an email canceling the meeting.
  • Christy Homitz

It turns out that Hunter's has changed ownership and will now start closing at 8 p.m. on Mondays - so we are going to have to find another place to meet. Please stay tuned about October's meeting.

Jeanne, thank you so much for posting this!!!
  • J. Crosby

    you're so welcome!
  • LeAnne J. King

I'm sorry for any confusion. The meeting is Monday, February 13. You can sign up under events. You just have to scroll down to find it.
  • LeAnne J. King

I wish you all a safe and blessed Memorial Day.  If you will be traveling, I wish you safe travels.  If you are off on Monday and in town, please join us at the Veterans Memorial Wall downtown.  All the information is under events.  God bless our troops and their families.  Too many have made the ultimate sacrifice.

  • Marty Cleghorn

Thanks, LeAnne.  If we can finally get the old "Next Meeting" info out of "our" Northside section we'll be in better shape.  Bless you for your work on behalf of our Nation.  We surely need EVERYONE in every capacity to save our Republic - in addition to paying tribute to our fallen heroes.

  • Arthur Crounse

The best gift to our Vets would we all gather at the National Cem. on the north side. If you have not been there as I have you will miss thoes that have lost someone and still cry.  It may rain, yet the tears of God are with the many that have given so much to  protect all of us.

  • Arthur Crounse

As a note=I always hug the person that lost a son or a daughter.  God Bless this land we all love.

  • LeAnne J. King

Sorry, Marty, not sure how to delete things.  It appears you can only delete what you post.  Will check on it though.

  • LeAnne J. King

Arthur, I think any gathering in honor of our military would be appreciated by our vets and their families.  Thank you for taking the time to offer a hug to someone who has lost a loved one.  What a kind gesture.  You are also welcome to join us at the Veterans Memorial Wall on Monday morning starting at 8:30, rain or shine.

Please contact Danny Ferreira dkferrei@comcast.net re: plans for 88 multifamily apartment grouping that will have subsidized units in it next to Chestwick Crossing on duval Station Rd. These will be within walking distance of First Coast High School. Danny has more information about the Government's plans for Oceanway's development.   Pamela Ferreira

  • LeAnne J. King

    Thanks for the information Pamela.

  • Marty Cleghorn

I'll be at the 10 DEC meeting.  We need to keep our chins up and push forward......God help our Country but we need to do what we can to make it happen! Thanks, LeAnne.

  • Michael Jones

Hi I wanted to see if someone can send me the basic information about the meeting today?

  • LeAnne J. King

Michael, I apologize for not getting back to you on your request.  Please email me at leaking55@comcast.net and I can give you information on future meetings we have scheduled.  Thank you for your interest.

  • Marty Cleghorn

Is JAN 29 really last time someone commented on Northside meeting "site"? Goodness. I thought maybe we had more than 24 members?
  • LeAnne J. King

This particular site on our website is not used very often.  This list is only those who have come through this site.  Our community group list consists of those who have attended meetings and that is a much larger list.

  • Leanne King

Marty, maybe you can get some of the ones who have not come and signed up here to do so. There is a lot of good information under the tabs that people can use and it is a easy way to communicate.

  • Patsy Underwood

Now that I live North I have to attend the Northside Group.
