Because they are our allies in the Middle East and because we promised we would support them and stay with them (apparently Obama doesn't believe he has to uphold the promises our country made to anyone if he doesn't like the idea...........geez I wish he had told us this when he was running for office somehow). Because we have quietly had them do things we could not have done (and supported them financially for doing it). They are the only truly democratic country in the Middle East and if we needed to, we could count on them to support what we do there, assist us, and perhaps even give us a haven to keep planes or other military equipment now that several other options are all but gone (thanks to Obama). We have a number of allies that we are on tenuous ground with since Obama took office because he is with the dictators and Muslim countries (they are, after all, his brothers). Because Israel is a country where people who have been unfairly terrorized and persecuted since the beginning of time and are fighting for their very existence on lands no one wanted that were there homelands for many years, so the country is comprised mostly of people who escaped from some very bad situations, and for me, mostly because, I believe, it is the right thing to do. To coin Obama, if the winds turned, I would stand with the Israelis (only Obama said he would side with the Muslims (like Hamas)............... I know Ron Paul would throw all other countries in the wind and be an isolationist and not help a sole unless they were all but done for and then, only if they begged us to help, but I think we have an obligation to stand by our word.
