22 year old Casey Brezik attempted to assassinate Governor Jay Nixon (D-MO), and the major organs of the fringe media (NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, NYT, WaPo, LAT, etc.) ignored the story. Only The Huffington Post ran it, and they're just a website. Sure, they usually beat FoxNews.com, and they have almost as many unique WEBSITE viewers each month as NYTIMES.COM, but they don't have a fraction of the impact of the NY Times.

And it isn't as if they didn't know. The Kansas City Star and The Boston Globe (two regional papers at best) both carried the AP wire story, but it simply never spread. News editors at every major news outlet simply ignored the story when it crossed their wires. Also, the Kansas City Star website appeared to have scrubbed the story, and Google cache shows no record of the story there, either, but it was linked to in dozens of blogs, so I assume it existed.

Other than a few blogs, and now GlennBeck.com and TheBlaze.com, followed by dozens of new blogs, have reported this; the major 'news outlets' remain silent on this story.

When one compares this assassination attempt, which thankfully, only included one victim who apparently made a relatively full recovery, to the mass murder by another crazed leftist named Loughner, we see another politician targeted for assassination, but this time, the perpetrator actually shoots their victim in the head, rather than slashing the throat of the wrong guy. Also, Jared Lee Loughner was white, a gun was used, the victim was female, and a member of the 435-seat U.S. House of Representatives, rather than a State Governor.

Which of these was the trigger which prompted them to focus on this story like nothing else this year? Both perpetrators were leftists, both are allegedly mentally unbalanced, and both intended to assassinate a politician. Both failed, although Loughner killed several people, and wounded nearly 20.

Was it the fact that Loughner was white, he used a gun, the victim was a woman, and the media thought he might be a Tea Partier? Which is it? Sadly, with what we know of this world, and of America's leftist newsrooms, it is likely all of the above.

The Assassination Attempt You Have Not Heard Of

The American Thinker brings us word of an attempted assassination you probably have never heard of.

It happened in September of 2010 in Missouri. A 22 year old named Casey Brezik, wearing a bullet proof vest, charged toward Missouri’s Democratic Governor Jay Nixon with a knife and attempted to slash his throat.

In light of the media’s race to talk about the right’s climate of hateful rhetoric, you have probably guessed by now that Casey Brezik was an anti-Christian, anti-capitalist leftist who participated in a number of leftwing protests. He was also a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic.

Luckily for all involved, Brezik was high on pot at the time and got confused. Instead of slashing the Governor’s throat, he slashed the throat of a community college dean he took for the Governor.

Jack Cashill, writing at the American Thinker, notes

In his “About Me” box on Facebook, Brezik listed as his favorite quotation one from progressive poster boy, Che Guevara. The quote begins “Our every action is a battle cry against imperialism” and gets more belligerent from there.

On his wall postings, Brezik ranted, “How are we the radical(s) (left) to confront the NEW RIGHT, if we avoid confrontation all together?”

As good as his word, Brezik’s marched on Toronto in June 2010 to protest the G20 Summit, where he was arrested, charged, and deported. “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED,” he boasted.

Given what we have seen come out of Arizona, we can establish two things as fact. First, had Governor Nixon been harmed in any way, the media would have immediately begun lamenting the tea party movement and “political rhetoric.” Second, had the injuries been as they were, but Brezik had listed himself as a Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh fan on his Facebook wall, the media would have covered this exactly as they covered Arizona.

Why is the media not covering an assassination attempt on Missouri’s Democratic governor Jay Nixon by 22-year-old Casey Brezik? Why has the limited coverage not prompted the same level of speculation as the attack perpetrated by Jared Lee Loughner? Could it be because he’s an anti-capitalist, anti-Christian, left wing crazy person? Glenn had the story on radio this morning from RedState.com:

He was going for the governor,” Glenn read on radio.

Glenn, however, refused to believe the story unless it was verified by additional sources. “Now, I won’t hear of this story anymore until I have forty sources,” he said.

“A man accused of stabbing a Kansas City college official intended to attack Missouri governor Jay Nixon and mistakenly believed he had done so police said Thursday. The suspect, 22‑year‑old Casey Brezik, did not know Nixon and had no particular beef with the governor. But he decided to attack him because he was a top government official, Kansas City police spokesperson Darin Snapp said,” Stu read from The Huffington Post. The article did not mention the political views of Casey Brezik.

Glenn could not believe that more news sources were not reporting the story.

Pat expressed some disbelief, saying, “It can’t have happened because you know they would have tracked down the violent rhetoric that set him off and they would have done an intensive investigation as to whose violent rhetoric set him off.”

Glenn did not want to have any more commentary or discussion until more research came out on the matter.

“When you have 39 more sources, you let me know. Because I’ve got real news to report,” he said.
