Facebook now has a page called Hobbits Unite!  I love it.  Talk about turning something around and using to the full extent, and apparently that is the plan.  At any rate, I thought you might enjoy this article written by a fellow tea party member from Gainesville and a fellow hobbit too :).

On Wednesday the “vaunted” Wall Street Journal ran an article titled “Tea Party Hobbits” in which they referred to those of us in the Tea Party movement as Hobbits. With all due respect to WSJ, bring it on. If this is the best you can do, you at the Journal are lightweights in the name-calling game. We’ve endured name tags such as “racist”, “right-wing extremists”, “terrorists”, etc. and all you have is hobbit? Speaking for myself, I’m proud to be a Hobbit.

On Thursday, James Robbins at the Washington Times wrote an article titled “Tea Party Hobbits vs. Gollum John McCain after the “go-along to get-along Senator lashed out at fiscal conservatives during a debate on the debt ceiling, quoting the Wall Street Journal editorial that denigrated “the tea-party Hobbits” who “could return to Middle Earth having defeated Mordor.” Mr. Robbins states “At least Frodo got the job done, which is more than we can say for the budget wizards in the Senate”. Hobbit to John McCain, “Do you honestly believe that we freedom loving Americans, otherwise known as “people of the Shire”, have any interest in what one of the biggest RINOS in the Senate has to say?

After the Wall Street Journal article, we in the Tea Party movement have decided to rally behind the Hobbit moniker, so thank you, WSJ, for comparing us to the admirable, freedom-loving people of the Shire.
