ESTABLISHMENT TRYING TO SILENCE YOUR VOICE - UNLESS YOU SPEAK UP

Why Moving Florida's Presidential Primary

To January 31, 2012 Hurts Our State

HERE FOLLOWS THE SUMMARY:

Our full allotment of delegates is: 99

After the three officers are removed our base becomes: 96

Cutting us as the penalty, we get only: 48

With the total delegates available in the six or seven states that are attempting to go before Florida, there will only be 212 delegates available. With a normal distribution of delegates among the candidates it is probable that several candidates will have 75 or 80 delegates if they are in the lead. Florida would be in a position to really lock up the lead and momentum for a candidate if it voted to go March 1,2,3,4 or 5 and still had its full allotment of 99 delegates. There is no penalty provided in the RNC Rules for those five days. It would be possible, with the proper definition of proportionality for a candidate to get 60 to 80 of Florida’s delegates and thus have a nice lead. (Again IF we were at full strength)

If Florida goes as early as is being discussed (January 31), we will have little, if any, impact on the delegate count for any candidate. Further, we will be slapping the RNC in the face after they gave the convention to Florida and we have not given the new rules a chance to see if they work.

Moving the date will cut our delegation in half and diminish the voice of the people, us.  This is due to one man's grab at power and will silence the voice of the people, us.  Please take a moment and make an urgent call to John Thrasher's offices.

A call to the State Capital number in this message got me a voice mail. At the local number I was told the decision has already been made. If I recall I think the vote was yesterday. Thrasher was one of the persons that had a vote on the issue. The request to call him probably was to get you to ask him to vote NO. Thrasher voted for the Jan 31 date. My understanding is that this is history. The vote has been taken

The person I was talking with didn't have much information about the diminished delegates Florida would have. She stated that was a “Party issue”. That would seem to me - Party Chair-.

I’ll have to check in later. If someone hasn’t already provided some information about National Party penalizing us for having a Jan primary I’ll attempt to do so.  Also I’ll come back and try and shed light on the  “- one man's grab at power- “  - Tony Bates -

Well, this is great.   Now we need to work on un-electing John Thrasher, too.   "What's the Buzz" had a great explanation of this last night on WBOB.   I didn't hear all of it, but it's based on RNC rules.  Only four states are allowed to go before Super Tuesday - IA, NH, SC and NV, period.  Any state wanting to go earlier will lose half their delegates (from 96 down to 48 for FL) and be seated at the back of the convention.  Our delegates vote proportionately.  If 50% vote for Cain, for example, there will only be 24 votes for Cain at the convention.  If it is a close race, as I expect it might be this year, every delegate's vote counts.

There is apparently a loophole in the RNC rules, allowing a state to choose the first four/five days in March without being penalized.

So Mr. Thrasher, in the guise of making FL more influential in the election, is actually doing the opposite.  The end result is that our voice will not count as much and the establishment candidate (this year's John McCain) will get the nod.

Too late Robert.  They have passed it and we have lost 1/2 of our delegates so Romney will have an advantage.  Please understand Romney is a business whiz, but if you think he will get rid of anything; think again.  He will not get rid of dept of ed, or epa or any of the rest of it, because he is an establishment candidate and folks of his ilk only just manage what the dems put in since they would love to have done it themselves but for the republican party platform!

My observation; the recent upset of the establishment presidential candidates at P-5 has caused discontent in the GOP.  These establishment republicans were afraid of the power of grassroots voices if there were to be 99 at the RNC.  This way there will only be 48, which is not a great enough number to make an impact.  I also heard that Thrasher might have a place in a Romney cabinet.

Please accept my apology, but somehow I either do not understand this issue or simply don't get-it. At first thought the entire event seemed to be another diversion from something else needing more important attention. I will investigate the aforementioned and have to put-in my 2-cents at some other date. It did occur to me that the change places the election closer to the presidential election date? Robert G. Debbie did a good job of explaining this, and there wasn't time to dally on it.  So, for those who did not call, because they felt they didn't have enough info, it is now to late to voice an opinion on this from what I understand.............it had to be done this morning.  Thrasher has apparently been promised a job by the Romney campaign in his cabinet and heaven knows if there is anything that will make someone turn on their electorite, it is a political favor in return for doing it.   Perhaps Romney wants the Florida voice quieted some and this will favor Romney mostly (and perhaps Romney is more concerned about Cain or Perry than he might care to admit since they both came in ahead of Romney in the straw poll).   William I udnerstand you need an explanation about losing delegates ahead of calling, but I got a call about this earlier to day, and called right afterwards and asked my caller to call Debbie.  The caller is a member of one of the republican groups and also said if Thrasher does this it will hurt Lennie Currie's reputation (don't know how, but that's the skinny).

Debbie, THere is really not enough info here to make a sensible complaint call to Thrasher's office.

Who is doing what and why does it make us lose delegates?

Comment by William Korach on September 30, 2011 at 10:44am

Deb,

I am a bit confused by this. Why does FL loose delegates? How do we get them back?

Comment by Bettina on September 30, 2011 at 10:35am

Done.   Either I was the first person calling the local office or not many people are calling.  I wasn't placed on hold and was able to state my case right away and take as much time as I wanted.

I don't know if I ever heard who actually wanted this done, meaning, who's the one man trying to grab power?

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
