The First Coast Tea Party hosted a free Straw Poll on July 19th for all 2014 Federal and State Candidates on the primary ballot for Clay, Duval and St. Johns Counties. This Straw Poll was open to the public and a media release was issued to encourage voters to attend. The Duval Supervisor of Elections, Mr. Jerry Holland, was the moderator of the event and provided oversight to the Tabulation Team for the ballot count.
Voters got acquainted with candidates by interactive dialog and by viewing candidate recorded statements. This Straw Poll broke new ground by interviewing judicial candidates where previously very few voters were familiar with these candidates. Citizens’ views on the Duval Library Straw Ballot were also included to educate voters.
An overwhelming number of attendees and candidates expressed their gratitude to the First Coast Tea Party for the opportunity to participate in this free event when so many similar events are both costly and without the benefit of the candidates recorded statements to rely on for those candidates unable to attend. Everyone enjoyed the complementary continental breakfast. The event was held in the Auditorium of the Jacksonville Salem Center.
Volunteers of the First Coast Tea Party offered candidates from all parties of the three counties the opportunity to record statements on their candidacy. Some candidates chose not to be interviewed. The full candidate interviews to educate voters on their views on specific issues will be made available by You Tube links on this website soon. The First Coast Tea Party expresses our appreciation to these volunteers for the many long hours expended in this huge accomplishment that provides valuable information to voters.

Adrian Wyllie is the only one running for Governor who is against common core!

What is the difference between the BIG spending Republican Rick Scott and the BIG spending Republican Charlie Crist. NOTHING. Neither Scott nor Crist is worthy of my vote. When it's just you and God in that polling booth remember this: When you vote for the lesser of two evils, you are voting for evil. Adrian Wyllie is the best man in the race hands down. The only way to get real change is to vote for the best man in the race, not a bought and paid for corrupt politician!
If your issue is common core then the choice in several races is clear,
GOVERNOR
Governor Rick Scott is getting bad advice from Jeb Bush (a paid common core supporter) but would sign a repeal bill if one is presented to him. He should stop with the name change narrative, it doesn’t suit him.
Charlie Crist actually signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Race to the Top application that forced common core on Florida, sight unseen. If elected Governor his signature on the MOU may obligate Florida to all the unfunded mandates embedded in the RTTT application. He was vocal about supporting common core this year, although he may flip as the truth about common core is exposed and the teachers force their union to oppose it.
STATE SENATOR DISTRICT 6
Derek Hankerson is opposed to common core on principle and understands the real threat of giving control of our schools, and our children to federally funded private, unaccountable crony corporations.
John Thrasher supported common core in a letter sent out last year to all the Republican Executive Committees and to news papers. His voting record shows he supports common core.
Kathleen Trued & Greg Feldman Not enough information,
STATE REP HOUSE DISTRICT 17
Rep. Doc Renuart seems to believe that changing the name from common core to the Next Generation Florida Sunshine State Standards actually got Florida out of common core. He makes these claims despite the fact that he sits on the committee that approved the changes to the common core standards, so he should know how trivial those changes actually were.
What about having a straw poll for Governor and include the best man in the Governors race Adrian Wyllie. Then again when is Adrian Wyllie going to be at the FCTP? http://wyllieforgovernor.com/
The straw poll is something I would like to see continue in the future as well, I was impressed with the organization of the poll and Ryman Shoaf presentation. I am a strong proponent of term limits and support maintaining the Republican platform in which seems to have been placed in the shadows.
In case you missed it: Dist #4 (SC) is Trey Gowdy; Dist #4 (Va) is Randy Forbes...we could have a Tri-Fecta! I feel very good now about our sagging nation, with these guys taking hold. They all support FairTax, ardently (we don't need the IRS for any reason!) Also...remember that Florida passed the Memorial for HR-25 (FairTax) in both houses of the Legislature...we are looking for a similar result from Texas, Virginia & Ohio (and several other states, as well). FairTax is non-partisan...it is all about YOUR money! (You should keep it, spend it or invest it as YOU choose!)
I am so glad that you got such high praise from the participants...I know a lot of effort went into this undertaking, and is certainly appreciated. Sorry I was unable to participate...I was one of the volunteers for the FairTax booth at Arts Market. Special congrats to Capt Ryman Shoaf... he impressed me greatly at his presentation in the previous week's FairTax monthly meeting. He has leadership qualities, is very knowledgeable about Constitution, Govt & FairTax...he is no-nonsense & a welcome addition to Dist #4. Please spread the word...we need his leadership!
Glad to see a Straw Poll that reflects my opinions, because I have grave concerns about our future as a free country. Can't speak to all candidates, but Crenshaw needs to be retired, and I'm supporting Ryman Shoaf in District 4 and Chris Oliver for State Representative, District 16.
As Thomas Paine so appropriately said in 1776, 'These are the times that try men's souls', and they certainly are today! God Bless America!
I am looking forward to the You Tube video.
Oh how I hope this spells the end for Crenshaw and Thrasher
Jim
THANKS DOES NOT CONVEY the appreciation our community has for all the volunteers and those aspiring office seekers. God bless each and everyone and God be patient with us --we are trying to fix this broken mess we have brought upon ourselves.
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
