Foresight is something that has not been witnessed as of late in the political arena. Hats off to Rick Scott for refusing to accept federal funds for what would likely become thousands of taxpayer-subsidized jobs. You can pay me now, or you can pay me later...I prefer to forego the short-term boost in favor of long-term stability for the State of Florida. The jobs we need are self-sustaining jobs that will provide employment in the private sector, not another round of bailouts and unionized workers throwing money at an anti-capitalist agenda. If the private sector, and commuters on I-4, want and needs a high-speed rail system, let the private sector fund, and gain the benefits of, such a system. Having lived in upstate New York at one time, I can still remember the resentment of upstaters with no public transportation who paid outrageous taxes to fund subsidized transportation in New York City. I do not care to repeat the experience in Florida.
Balancing a budget is painful - at home, in Talahassee, and in Washington, DC.
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
