Scottish history professor Alexander Tyler said;

“A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years.” 

He was quoting from the Republic which also makes the point that "without divine help the government of men will go on forever making and mending the laws and their lives in the hope of attaining perfection." Thus they are compared to invalids who, having no self-restraint will not leave off their habits of intemperance. What a delightful life they lead! Invalids of this sort look upon anyone who tells the truth as their worst enemy. The truth being unless they give up eating, drinking, prostituting, coveting and all manner of debauchery neither drug nor cautery nor spell nor amulet nor any other remedy will avail. There is no relief save the Grace of God to a humble and contrite people who ask for forgiveness!

There is no peace without God! The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.

The angry men of the world do not achieve righteousness or peace. They have no character and thus do as they will. They divide and make war until everyone is willing to settle for a powerful king to rule over them.

Righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace! As John Locke said “no man can control the thoughts of another” we will have that freedom until death at which point we will be held accountable for both out thoughts and our actions.

According to President Abraham Lincoln, “If you want to test the character of a man give him power”. As a nation we just gave Obama more power than any enemy of nation has ever had.
