District 8 Councilwoman E. Denise Lee filed for re-election Monday, becoming the 12th member of the current Jacksonville City Council to do so. At-Large Group 1 Councilman Ronnie Fussell has previously said he wouldn't seek re-election, but all other members eligible to run have now filed to do so.

Lee, who chaired the Rules Committee and served on the Finance Committee last year, had held off on the formality until after tough budget decisions were over.

"There were some tough issues we were looking at," she said on Monday. "I wanted to make sure the critical issues were behind us. I didn't want anyone to misread a contribution."

With next year's budget behind her, Lee said she expects to begin fundraising immediately.

Her 11 colleagues joining her in seeking another term are:

Clay Yarborough, District 1

Bill Bishop, District 2

Richard Clark, District 3

Don Redman, District 4

Jack Webb, District 6

Johnny Gaffney, District 7

Warren A. Jones, District 9

Reginald L. Brown, District 10

Ray Holt, District 11

John Crescimbeni, At-Large Group 2

Stephen C. Joost, At-Large Group 3

I believe the GOP made a deal when they put these districts together and don't run someone against these folks. I think with the passage of amendments 5 and 6, that may change (and heaven knows I hope so). No one runs against the state senator we have either, so we have no representation and he does not attempt to work for the people in his district because he has no fear of being voted out. I think some of these city council seats are the same way. I see more than just Lee is running unapposed.

You will notice that Denise Lee is running UNOPPOSED.
She has a strangle hold on this District like Corrine Brown has on hers.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
