Ok, apparently I opened a can of worms. This was not my intention, but in for a pence, in for a pound. My children are honor roll students, always have been. We can't afford to send them to private schools, but we don't believe that their education ends when class dismisses in the afternoon, nor do we send them to school by way of a surogate for daycare as some do. As with many things, my perspective is founded in a historical point of view, so please bear with me here.

In 1935, "Triumph des Willens" was released to worldwide critical acclaim. During this same period, school children were taught the party line in songs and games. Texts which contradicted the party line were burned in great bonfires at political rallies. I am certain that many parents of the day  were concerned but they allowed complacency to overtake them. After all, things were better than they had been just three years earlier.

In 1938, Adolf Hitler was chosen as Time Magazine’s man of the year. He was prominently displayed on the January 2, 1939 cover of "the magazine of record". Within ninety days, Germany annexed Austria, by September it would "Annex" Poland. Six years later, in April of 1945, and a mere 35,881,700 casualties later the end of the Third Reich would be marked with the death of this monster. These figures do not include the over 6,000,000 human beings systematically murdered in Nazi concentration camps.

The important thing to remember here is that it all started by teaching school children what a great guy Der Fuhrer was and how the Nazi party had moral superiority and would be the salvation of Germany a decade earlier. The largest Perl begins with a single grain of sand, an avalanche with a single snowflake. If we don't teach our children the constitution and the founding fathers, then what is going to anchor them into our society, and thus protect it from those who would erode or pervert it. So yes, I object to my children being indoctrinated in such a way as to undermine their understanding of American history, their national heritage, and the Constitution which stands to protect their God given rights.

It was a beautiful day for the Rally.  The pictures you have must have been taken early, because there were many more people there.  The group across the street couldn't get to us, thanks to our leaders asking for all the spots on the capitol side.  Good move!  Did you see the sign that one child held that said, " I hope I don't see my Teacher here"!!  I loved it.  Steve Myers is right about it being our responsibility to teach our own children.  Our first two children went to government schools, but they gave the teachers that pushed Socialism a fit.  We home schooled our last child part of the time and he to grew up knowing his country was great, not perfect, but better than any other place on earth.  We all must teach our children and grandchildren  the truth about God and our dear USA !!  Like I said it was a great day for the Tea Party and I know some other Tea Parties are over there today.  Get ready we may have to go back if the UNIONS try to stay like they are doing up North.

Read article 1, section 8, U.S. Constitution and ask youself what enumerated power gives the federal government the right to involvement in education. You're right. It's the state's responsiblity, not the Federal gvernments. In the same vein, you will find that the federal government is involved in a  lot of things they shouldn't be.

Where does this religion thing come into the educational equation? Does it bother you that this country was founded on a Christian Ethic and the Declaration of Independence denotes Natural law and Rights which, whether you like it or not, are God given and should be acknowleged in public places (Schools included).

 

Unlike you, my last two children went through public schools.  Both were burger king qualified for employment when they finished. The battles I fought over the indocrination they received as opposed to the education they should have gotten - you know, reading, writing, math, geography, and civics - knowledge of our unique heritage as compared to the rest of the world.

Okay I so want to go to these things however I am a paramedic student and have little time for LIFE right now so, I am glad to have this blog and many others like it to keep me up to date... I would like very much if someone could ask one question for me while they are in these sites... Why in God's name is our President THINKING, of opening the oil reserves??? We are still in the middle of the worst recession since the 70's, food prices have gone up, gas has gone astronomically high, and he is THINKING about a relief. As well I was just informed that property taxes increased my mortgage payment $100 per month... Humm is there anyone out there for the people, Really??
