SHOULD FLORIDA SECEDE FROM THE NATION?

 
Much to my surprise as I read all the states seceding from the union, Florida must have started two or three days ago.  If we secede, we should  not have any financial problems, we have over 800 miles of beaches, we have two bodies of water that you can swim in or fish, we have good weather 10 mos out of the year and we have more theme parks than any other state in the union, so our income is grande, really grande!!!!  Now, for outgoing, that is grande also.  We have a very high number of retirees and those on pensions in this state.  If we go to the 10thAmendment, then things will have to change a little to compensate the retirees but I am sure not having the federal taxation would equal expenses vs income. Also, I forgot to mention the CAFR's before, with those we are probably looking at about 20 million in excess funds that they are hiding from us!!!!! Invest that money and we'd be all set!!!! 
 
You do have to sign up to sign the petition and we are at almost 19,000 signatures in three days. There needs to be 25,000 signatures by December 10, 2012.  To be on the safe side, we should get about 32,000 signatures just in case the WH does not accept non resident signatures.  If 25K shows, keep on signing until we get to 32K.

Other states are participating as well, I believe we have 27 so far.  Some states made a bad mistake and started a second petition by accident, that will be a nightmare to fix. Texas got to 25,000 signatures yesterday at about 3pm, the WH now has theirs and will make a determination sometime?

There, now dp you understand. At least dems are willing to leave the country if they lose. You lose and you want the country to change. That is narcissism.

Peggy get it through your skull this notion, just because you and everyone you know thinks something, it does not make it true. Floridians voted in the majority to re--elect the President. I doubt you get a secession motion to pass, we are assuming that you would require more than an online petition to make it so. Rick Scott even said he is going to get busy implementing Obamacare. Two elections in a row Obama carried Florida. So I would secessionists had better just move on to a state that their views are in the majority. Kiss you social security and medicare goodbye. Take all the old angry white people with you. Good riddance.

If a state secedes could they find a way to not have to honor any former city/county/state pension agreements?  If so, I'd be in..

I don't remember the opt out online clause of the Consitution. Plus Holly, no small part, Obama won Florida. You may be asked to move to seceeding state instead. They will probably hold you in a FEMA camp until you are granted entry. Otherwise they may count you an illegal immigrant. Good luck in Texas.
