With that title I trust I have your attention on an important issue to those who support liberty over tyranny.  This week the Senate, with 44 Republicans including Marco Rubio, passed the Defense Authorization Bill which allows for unlimited detention of American Citizens accused  of supporting terrorism.

This means that I, an American citizen, could be accused of supporting Al-Qaeda by either the President or Attorney General, arrested and shipped to Guantanamo Bay and held indefinitely for the  duration of the never ending war on terror.  The power to wage war in our name is the most awesome power that we as citizens can confer to our elected representatives.  They have become so intoxicated with that power that they now see fit to shred our Constitutional liberties in the name of security.

What happened on 9/11 was not a failure of our laws, it was a failure of  a bloated bureaucracy and imperfect human beings.  So what has been the response of our government, both Democrats and Republican, create more  bureaucracy and limit more and more of our liberties.

Are you not tired of feeling like a criminal suspect every time you go to an airport.  Are you not tired of having to measure every word, even in jest, for fear of someone taking it the wrong way and reporting you to the authorities. Remember Aunt Janet and See Something Say Something.

This morning I called Senator Rubio's office and politiely asked for an explanation for his vote in support of indefinite detention of American citizens.  His office said they are working on a statement.  I urge all of you to call his office and express your concern as well.

If there is a good reason to limit our liberties then our elected representatives, not our masters and overlords,  need to explain it to us in detail.  It no longer suffices to be told "we are at war with terror."  Terror is a tactic and one that will never go away, so does that mean when we give up our liberties in the name of security from terrorism they are gone forever? I do not accept the premise of the McCain's, Graham and apparently Rubio's of the world that without giving the government such sweeping powers we are all doomed to be killed by a jihadi.  When our southern border is secured then they can come talk to me about how dangerous the world is.  Until then their words are rubbish and a smokescreen to hide their love of Leviathan.

Go read the Fourth and Fifth Amendments to the Bill of Rights and ask yourself if a vote in favor of unlimited detention of citizens comports with what our Founders bestowed upon us. Go re-read what Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln and Reagan said about how truly fragile are freedom and liberty. I for one do not want to be a member of the generation that lost the greatest experiment in human history known as the American Constitution.

The President has threatened to veto the bill, I support him on this and hope he does.  If we in the Tea Party movement stand for liberty we must jealously guard and defend it all day everyday for as Ronald Reagan said "it is not passed onto our children through the bloodstream."

Part of our strength as a country is derived from our freedoms. Not all, but certainly a significant part. Anytime someone suggest that our safety can only be kept by the suspension of  rights be aware.

In further developments it appears that it was President Obama that wanted the language to remain in the Defense Authorization Bill to include American citizens as eligible for indefinite detention.  This is according to statements made by Senator Carl Levin (D- Mich).    Furthermore, top national security lawyers in the Obama administration say U.S. citizens are legitimate military targets when they take up arms with al-Qaida.  What the Administration  is trying to do is create a post hoc justification for the killing of al-Alwaki, except that now the battlefield arguably includes all of the United States.  Posse Commitatus anyone, Bueller...Bueller.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
