Because of union notification requirements and a 30 million dollar shortfall in the budget, all teachers working in Providence, RI will be pink slipped before March 1st (indicating their last day of employment will be the last day of school).  Providence needs this flexibility to determine what action to take once the final numbers are all worked out.  Bet this won't go over well.
