With Senate President Haridopolos already having declared his candidacy for the 2012 U.S. Senate race, and with former Senator George LeMieux strongly signaling a run as well, one potential candidate that could prove to be the dark horse in the race is former Florida House Majority Leader Adam Hasner. Hasner has been mulling over the idea of running for higher office for some time now, and has by no means kept his aspiration for higher office a secret. Hasner is considered the darling amongst many grassroots and ‘Tea Party’ circles due to his staunch Conservative ideology, unwavering support for Israel, and opposition to radical Muslim extremism.
Hasner garnered a reputation as the proverbial ‘pain in the neck’ to former Governor Crist during his tenure as Governor of Florida due to his consistent opposition to Governor Crist’s positions and agenda.
At this past weekend’s ‘Center of the Florida GOP universe’ meeting in Orlando, I caught up with Hasner and asked him what his thoughts were about the Senate race, and if he had given it further consideration in the last 3 weeks since we last spoke. Hasner indicated that he still considering a run for the Senate seat in 2012, but has not completely decided if he will declare his candidacy. What could be a sign that he is strongly leaning towards running is that fact that Hasner will be taking a ‘road trip’ of sorts around the state of Florida to meet Floridians from all corners of the state, much in the same way Senator Marco Rubio made his way around the state in a fact-finding tour several years ago that served as the basis for his ’100 Ideas’ book.
With Hasner’s passionate and emotion-filled speeches, his down the line conservative message and savvy fundraising ability, Representative Hasner will make waves amongst the grassroots as the “cinderella” candidate– that’s if he decides to run.
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
