Jacksonville's Sulzbacher Center for the homeless announced the beginning of construction projects Wednesday that will, among other things, add 52 beds.
The work is being funded by a $1 million grant from the city.
The main work is the addition of a second floor that will serve as a 24-bed veterans dormitory and a 28-bed medical respite facility. Also, the center kitchen will be renovated, with new floors, a new dishwasher and reusable plates, glasses and cutlery.
