Jacksonville City Councilwoman Denise Lee excoriated the Mayor’s Office during a courthouse oversight committee meeting Monday, saying she wanted more information and urging the chief judge to stand his ground on furniture purchases.
The committee meeting comes after several members of Mayor Alvin Brown’s administration met last week with State Attorney Angela Corey and Chief Judge Don Moran in hopes of ironing out differences.
The city and state attorney, at least, have moved somewhat closer together, with the city agreeing to look at some sort of connection between Corey’s office and the courthouse.
Corey has long argued that a secure connection is needed, but the administration removed the elevated walkway in the plans after its price tag went up.
“We’re going to look to at least one alternative, perhaps a ground walkover, and as long as it is safe – enclosed – and efficient, we’ll work with the city on that,” Corey said.
