A Jacksonville City Council panel approved Mayor Alvin Brown’s pick for budget officer Monday after he promised to live in Duval County.
“We are going to establish a residency in Jacksonville,” Glenn Hansen told the council Rules Committee, which backed his confirmation 6-0.
Hansen lives now in St. Marys, Ga., and Brown’s office initially asked for a waiver of a city law requiring new employees to live in Duval County within six months.
Hansen is a former Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago executive and Jacksonville University faculty member who council members said they considered highly qualified
