Mayor Alvin Brown’s pick for budget officer says he’s ready to get a home in Jacksonville. But it will be two weeks before a City Council panel decides whether that’s enough to get its support.
“I thought this was already worked out. But apparently there are some language issues that need to be resolved,” Rules Chairman Bill Bishop said when he deferred a vote on Glenn C. Hansen’s confirmation.
Hansen lives in St. Marys, Ga., and city law requires new employees to live inside Duval County. He told Rules members two weeks ago he couldn’t afford to sell his house in St. Marys because of plummeting home prices, but said Monday he and his wife were ready to either buy or lease a home in town.
