It is about time, but even with his resignation, Mr. Blaylock will still be in the position until September 30th which is a long time given the total lack of any type of oversight provided by Blaylock, who earns a salary of $273,000 a year, to remain in a job he was clearly not doing.  We can thank Larry Hannan for his  4 month long investigation, and The Times Union for informing the public of the results of Mr. Hannan's investigation on behalf of the Times Union for uncovering a huge number of problems with the folks who are driving the JTA buses.  The Times Union reporter undertook the investgation looking for answers to why 1 person was killed by a bus and 2 young girls were assaulted by bus drivers, and I applaud Mr. Hannan and the Times Union for Their work.  I am not sure what Mr. Blaylock was doing, but he apparently was not very involved with the organization he was charged with running.  Let us hope the JTA board does a better job of choosing Mr. Blaylock's replacement.

An excerpt from the Times Union indicates: 

"The agency has recently been under intense scrutiny since a Times-Union investigation found 258 JTA bus drivers had a  total of 1,276 criminal and driving violations going back to the 1970s. Some had  as many as 20 offenses on their record. Violations include domestic  battery, child abuse, driving without a valid license and writing bad  checks.

Blaylock said he was unaware of the background problems until the Times-Union  investigation."
