This is what our nation’s capital has become. In all honesty, the news seems to get more and more ridiculous with each passing day. We have a president who states we need to make “sacrifices” to get through this tough economy, yet he continues to take high-end vacations while hosting numerous White House parties – including the latest one with “bumps and grinds”. He then has the nerve to complain about being “treated like a dog” while he continues to blame every current problem on George Bush. Poll numbers continue to plummet for Democrats, Congress, and incumbents. Freshmen Democrats are continually on the defensive while trying to distance themselves from Obama. Instead of attacking the Tea Party’s policies, liberal juggernaut George Soros and Co. are trying to completely discredit the Tea Party’s image through slanderous propaganda. More stimulus bills are being proposed, the economic outlook continues to worsen, and unemployment is going up. The future is bright!
Let’s first take a look at Obama’s speech yesterday in Milwaukee. This was really nothing more than a campaign speech to his union followers in the AFL-CIO. So what was said? “…We talked about some on Wall Street who were taking reckless risks and cutting corners to turn huge profits…” I guess there is nothing reckless about potentially doubling an inherited $10.5 Trillion debt (which took 233 years to achieve) in a short 10 years according to InvestorsInsight.com. There was also no cutting corners in order to get your health care bill through that 60% of Americans at the time did not want (Corn-Husker Kick Back, Reconciliation..).
“The 40-hour work week, the minimum wage, family leave, health insurance, Social Security, Medicare, retirement plans. The cornerstones of the middle-class security all bear the union label.” About that minimum wage. Congress’s Joint Economic Committee Report in 1996 concluded that raising the minimum wage does in-fact hurt lower skilled workers because, “raising the minimum wage induces some people to enter the labor market who would not apply if not for the higher level. With a larger labor market, employers choose higher-skilled applicants.” Social Security and Medicare have a combined $100+ Trillion in unfunded liabilities according to the National Center for Policy Analysis. And yes, about those lovely union retirement pensions. Time Magazine reported that the UAW’s pension demands were so onerous that GM is underfunded to the tune of $27 Billion for union pension plans alone. Now you can be almost certain that our tax-payer bailout of Government Motors will end up funding the heavily democratic UAW’s retirement fund.
“And even though we’ve had eight straight months of private sector job growth, the new jobs haven’t been coming fast enough.” That is just another outright lie. There has not been 8 straight months of job growth. ADP – a private payroll processing company – reported 2 days before Obama’s speech that “for the first time in six months, ADP reports a net loss of jobs.”
“We didn’t become the most prosperous country in the world just by rewarding greed and recklessness. We didn’t do it just by gambling and chasing paper profits on Wall Street. We built this country by making things, by producing goods we could sell.” More dialogue trying to paint the successful and Wall Street as the villains. So, Mr. Obama, what is it that is rewarded? People are motivated by one thing to create a product that people will purchase – money. And in order to create a product, a risk must first be taken. In order to get a reward, one must take a risk. The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. It is also known that stocks are goods that people can buy and sell. Investment firms have workers too, and their paychecks depend on the buying and selling of equities, debts, and currencies (the Wall Street economy). And again, you have no room to talk when it comes to “greed and recklessness.” Your budget and power grabs are living proof of your hypocrisy.
Change direction. CBS had an interesting piece yesterday about how there is panic in the White House about the mid-term elections. Nancy Cordes, who is a Congressional correspondent for CBS had this to say regarding Congressional Democrats:
“Not only are they running away from President Obama, they’re running away from being Democrats in some cases. In some races you actually see the Democratic candidates not really mentioning that they’re a Democrat in their campaign ads.”
Talk about a change of events. The Democrats went from having an almost unheard of super-majority in Washington, to now being on the verge of complete collapse. This should come as no surprise as Gallup reported earlier this Summer that self-identified conservatives outnumber self-identified liberals by a 2-1 margin. Add that with the fact that this Congress and President are the most liberal we’ve had since FDR, and you get yourself a dire picture for Democrats in November.
There is one line though in this article that really comes off as remarkable. Jim VandeHei, who is the executive editor of Politico (even though it is left leaning, it is still one of my most used sources for political updates), had this to say regarding Democrats and Obama’s health care bill: “Not a single Democrat has run an ad in support of the health care bill since April.” Wow. This was supposed to be the Democrats greatest achievement since FDR’s New Deal. Remember Joe Biden after Obama signed it? “This is a big f___ deal“, he got caught saying on camera. Obama’s greatest legislative achievement (in his mind) has now become the Democrat’s kryptonite. Hilarious.
Lastly, I want to take a quick look at Obama’s new stimulus bill. Now of course, he is not calling this a stimulus due to the fact that the original stimulus is so unpopular. Nearly 60% opposed the bill when it was first passed according to Rausmussen. But Obama revealed yesterday that he wants to spend $50 Billion- that we don’t have - on infrastructure projects that will “put people to work immediately”. Wait, haven’t we heard that before? That would be because Obama’s original stimulus of $862 billion had $100 Billion marked for “transportation and infrastructure” according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Well that didn’t work, so I guess we just need to throw more money at it! The CBO said it best:
“Data on actual output and employment… are not as helpful in determining [the stimulus bill’s] economic effects…because isolating those effects would require knowing what path the economy would have taken in the absence of the law. Because that path cannot be observed, there is no way to be certain about how the economy would have performed if the legislation had not been enacted.”
Let me paraphrase this from the CBO’s point-of-view: “We really have no idea what the stimulus has done.” By admitting you don’t know what the economy would have done without the stimulus, you have completely discredited any estimates of positive impact the stimulus has because there is nothing to compare and contrast. Talk about government outrage. Obama created a $892 Billion slush fund that has no way of measuring its effects.
So it all boils down to this. Washington has grown into nothing more than a giant circus. Only this act is not for entertainment purposes only. The American people are realizing they have been sold a ticket to a show they did not wish to see. The American people will get their partial rebate in November.
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
