Where were you when the miracle happened last Saturday?

There was no way the Denver Broncos were supposed to win the number of games they did this year.  It was impossible.  They were doing nothing but losing games.  Then, Tim Tebow was tapped to start in the quarterback position.  John Elway, Bronco’s Executive Director, was not happy.  According to John, and many others, Tebow does not have the proper techniques to be a good NFL quarterback.  There is no way this kid can win.

The season wore on, and somehow, Tim worked his magic on the field.  I could sense a shift in the team.  The kind of shift where team members started to believe in Tim, and in their selves.  So win Tim did.  Not every game, but enough games to take them to the NFL Playoff Game, against the champions of long standing, the Pittsburgh Steelers.  The Steelers have many of the best players, those with all the right moves, techniques, and experience.

But, something happened last Saturday.  The Steelers were driving for a score at the end of the fourth quarter and the Denver Broncos held them to no points.  The score was tied.  As overtime started, I thought well, Denver has played a great game against (one of my favorite teams) the Steelers.  They can hold their heads high when they lose.

Did I say lose?  Yes.  I too thought Pittsburgh would defeat Denver.  Denver huddled up and Tim called the play given him from the sidelines.  They went to the line of scrimmage and it just happened, a beautiful 80 yard pass to Demaryius Thomas.   Denver won the game in first 11 seconds of overtime.

Tim Tebow, of the John 3:16 eye patch fame, and his team, just did the impossible!  The internet went crazy.  There were more tweets than when Osama was killed or the royal couple wed.  Emails were flying about the coincidence of the statistics of the game.  Here are those statistics per USA Today: Tim had 316 passing yards in 10 passes for an average of 31.6 yards.  At the time of the 80 yard overtime pass that won the game, the Neilsen rating for the game was 31.6.  According to Carl Gallups, of 1330 WEBY AM radio, a halo appeared above the stadium.  The next day John 3:16 was the hottest topic on Google.

When Tim’s mother was pregnant with him, she was advised to have an abortion.  She prayed to God to let her child live.  In her prayers, she promised God that he would be a preacher if he lived.  Today, Tim lives out her promise to God through his strong belief, good works, talent and the NFL.

Can Tim and the Broncos win today’s game?  Sure, if each team member does his part, good plays are called and the referees are fair.  But, if Tim never wins another football game, he is still my hero.  To me, he is God’s quarterback.

The naysayers call it a coincidence.  I say it’s a miracle.  I believe this is a call that no referee can make.

I have not uttered one slight of any sort against Tim. Certainly nothing in regard to his character. He seems to be a good guy. Nor do I assign him miracle worker status. Peggy if you assign this to him then what you are saying is that an NFL quarterback with a slow delivery, an inability to throw accurately and slow recognition of defenses cannot win without devine intervention. That Tebow cannot win unless God were directly involved. That is insulting and fails to credit the effort of not only of Tebow but that of his teammates as well.

I've watched NFL football for years.  Like the mainstream media, the sports media thrives on sensationalism to get fans to watch, listen to or read their opinions.  The NFL players that get most of the attention are the amoral individuals who could care less about their "image", their family, or other people in general.  They think their fame and their money is going to insulate them from being held accountable for their bad behavior.  Sometimes it does.

At first, I was surprised by the outright hatred and vitriol expressed by some sports writers about Tim Tebow.  However, I decided that speaks volumes about them and not Tim Tebow.  It takes a great deal of personal courage to take the heat like Tebow did and then turn the other cheek.  I admire him greatly for that alone.

That being said, football fanatics need to look at football just as Tebow does.  He said football was just a game and there are more important things in life, like helping others.  I totally agree with that.

Let's hope the NFL thugs in the league come under conviction about the manner in which they live their lives and change their ways.  Don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

Amanda, all those people you know were not very well known apparently.  The ones we have heard about up to now have been drunk drivers, drug users, dog abusers, rapists, and the like.  This is a clean cut nice young man, and he doesn't certainly deserve your wrath.  He is nice and the young people like him and emulate him (and that isn't a bad thing considering we have an amoral president and administration in Washington).  I think Tim Tebow came along at exactly the right time, and I am not sure that was not by design.  If you think he doesn't know he won't win every game, you need to rethink it.  He thanks God for allowing him to have the talent he does, and in spite of the score, his team really worked their butts off and played exceptionally well.  Tebow still had tons to be thankful for like no one was hurt seriously.  The Broncos don't have anything to be ashamed of, because they played a really good game, but the Patriots played a better game and won.  If you think you will stop hearing about Tim Tebow because they lost the game against the Patriots, I wouldn't be holding my breath for it to happen.

I have known several of these young men from Jacksonville and my time in college. They are not average in any way. The pro's I have known here are involved, they are in the community. Tom Coughlin and Wayne Weaver were very proactive in making sure this happened. These were genuinely good men, theyreally acted as though they were blessed and happy to share that with others. In college I had the great pleasure of knowing two men who went on to become NFL Man of Year winners.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is heavily populated with NFL players. For every Michael Vick there are a dozen guys doing the right thing. That isn't in the newspaper, nor should it be, because it is so commonplace as to fail to be newsworthy.

They are young and rich and famous, and feel very near invincible. They will make mistakes. But the men who hire them are wealthy and smart. They have little interest in men of questionable character, their teams are valuable assets and they will not endanger that image to some idiot who doesn't get it.

It is kind of like plane crashes. When they stop being front page news, that is when it is time to stop flying

Amanda, most young men who enter this violent profession are not of great character.  Where have you been...........drugs, drunken driving, sexual assaults, and animal abuse to name of few of the character flaws we hear about on a pretty regular basis.  This young man is not run of the mill, and shame on you for trying to do the bible thing to put him down.  I read your posts and for the most part :), I know you are better than that!

Tebow was 9-26 yesterday.
Daniel 9:26
After sixty-two "sevens" the Annointed One dies and will have nothing.

I hope that isn't a sign. Let Tebow be Tebow without being a prophet, being an NFL qb is tough enough.
And for the record, most of the young men in this violent profession are exceptional people. Not many men lacking character are able to even don the uniform.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
