In the words of Patrich Henry, “Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”[i]

If you love our country the time has come to teach everyone around you what it means to be an American.

The war on terror resulting from the events of 9/11 should have served as a wakeup call to the citizens of the United States of America, a point of reflection as to who we are and where we see ourselves in the future.

The fall of the Twin towers of the World Trade Center serves as the final dividing line in cultural war raging in the United States of America just as it serves as the line of full recognition a war of terror.  Ten years later stand back and look at your life knowing that it will never be the same, your desire to go home and live your life as before not being possible.

We have moved into and alien culture in which you are asked to “be sensitive to strange customs and foreign traditions of a once unknown people”. How can you accept the idea of being sensitive to a people who in cold blood for no reason what-so-ever discharge an IED[ii] in the heart of our nation? Is the normal reaction to cower in fear, like the person living in a violent neighborhood where murder is an everyday occurrence going to change the world around us? I don’t think so.

I think it is time too lead the world forward by returning to the values which have brought us thus far. However, our present lack of leadership, the lack of a vision for American makes us look like a young adolescent who refuses to accept responsibility for his actions.

Who are we? As a nation we need to stand up and answer that question and plan for our future before it is to late.
