Action required: Tallahassee; House Bill 2012/HB1209 and Senate Bill 2012/S1360

We need to contact the governor and our STATE representatives about these bills, and an attempt might be made to contact those on the senate committee (if it passes the house, but does not pass the senate, it won't fly...........but what the bill appears to say is no law used in any court in our state that does not comply with state law and the US constitution carries the force of law  period...............and it does not say anything about Sharia law..........it basically says…

TU: Two articles of interest about a couple of things going on up in Georgia

I found both of these articles to be of interest to those who follow what is going on up in Georgia.  The first is about blocking funding for abortions and the second attempts to stop Sharia law from being used in the courts and it is getting mixed reviews, because it is not all that simple and contains elements which may be less than desireable.  Enjoy!

TU: Jacksonville City Council panel looks for ideas to upgrade Hemming Plaza

Let's see, in today's paper we have learned the city is going bankrupt because of pensions, but heah, no point in the city council focusing on the negative stuff when they have all this fluffy stuff.  Hre is my take on Hemming Plaza................what do you think we should do?

Why not do what a number of other cities have done and privatize Hemming Plaza. Cities that have privatized parks, have trendy little boutiques and food vendors that…

TU: Jacksonville could face $500 million bill over workers not in city pension plan

We have more to worry about than "doggy parks" and land we don't need to be buying for the sports complex.  I guess for this issue, I am trying to figure out why these folks can sue for being put in social security.  I personally think the city employees should be on social security just like all the folks who are paying their salaries!   And they stopped putting there is 2010..............why?  It is and was a good idea as the city can't afford these lush pensions when the rest…

TU: Mayor Alvin Brown promises Jacksonville pension reform, but the 'how' remains elusive

Good luck with that if the city council keeps cutting people's pay to use to buy more land in the sports complex and on "doggy" parks.  Common sense seems to be something council members, save one or two, seem to lose if left in office for 2 terms..................................Let's hope some of these folks don't run for state offices now that they have cast their conservative, common sense principles aside.

'It's bankruptcy if nothing…

TU: JTA board chairman blasts management

I guess my questions to this man is "Where were you?" and "Why didn't you know what was going on?". This is shameful and trying to blame others to deflect fault from yourself is about as bad as it gets. Where is the person who is going to say they are sorry, I was responsible, and I didn't do the job I am being paid to do...............and where are the resignations of those who were ultimately responsible for knowing what was going on that make the big bucks? The men in charge…

Red State: The Elephant in the Room

I don't know about you, but I don't know about you, but I don't want a team player who goes against their principles. I want someone who stands by their principles even when it is really hard to do, because you are badly outnumbered!  I am very disappointed in some of what was said at the debate the other evening...............how do you feel?

Friday, February…

The Blaze: Ariz. Bill Would Fire Teachers for Bringing ‘Partisan’ Opinions Into the Classroom

Just my personal opinion, but IT IS ABOUT TIME!!!!!

2/22/2012

Teachers in Arizona would automatically be fired for bringing “partisan doctrine” into their classrooms under a bill pending before the state legislature.

Arizona Senate bill 1202 is meant to ensure students get a balanced view of what they’re taught in school, Capitol Media Services…

Finance Committee approves City Council Bill 2012-0070 $75,000 for a Dog Park

Councilmembers in the finance committee voted for Bill Bishop's DOG PARK.

Will Bishop's next bill be to build a monument to himself in the park?

This is shameful..........totally shameful, and we need to let our councilmen and women know they have no money to pay for this since all, save one councilman, don't seem to realize how bad things are. This doggy park will be installed on the backs of the unemployed, those who have taken pay cuts, those who are…

Saint Petersblog: Ruling suggests broad redistricting case

Redistricting case before the supreme court.  No maps approved as yet, and the liberal groups are up in arms over the gerry mandered districts (I guess they want them neatly divided into districts.............which our state legislators have said can be done once federal law in applied and the gerry mandered districts are outlined).  So, now, these groups got these horrid fair district laws on the ballot and worked to get them approved by Florida residents who voted for them…

TU: Mayor Alvin Brown's out-of-town choice for budget officer stays in contention with deferral

I don't think they should make an exception here.  They have passed a ruling that said where people have to live to be employed by the city, and I think they must stick to it...............no waiving anything.  Surely, there are enough people in Duval county and the acceptable surrounding areas, we could choose someone who qualifies (and shame on Mayor Brown for choosing someone who isn't within the area he knows they must live).

TU: Duval School Board considers ending troubled pilot program

I am not going to really touch this one except to say, after reading this, you should clearly understand why our public schools are in trouble.  We have to start electing different people to the school board (truly we do).  $471,000 flushed, but these folks seem to think money grows on trees anyway!

Former principal ignored Duval policies, officials say.…

TU: JEA backs pay raise for another employee union; City Council can't stop it

The JEA apparently is going to give someone a raise even if they can't get their pay raise bills through the city council and this group doesn't have to be approved by city council.  I do see at least one really good thing in the proposed contract though as they are moving folks with less time onto a defined benefit retirement plan.  This is a truly poor time for the public sector to be handing out raises to anyone since they earn more than the private sector workers that pay…

Politico: Democratic senators want super PAC crackdown

My first thought when I saw this was that Obama was not happy about super PACS, but when the republicans had them, he realized from a money perspective he would have to use PACS too.  Then, he announced to the country, he was accepting help from super pacs that supported him (his take was under 100,000..............not too good considering republicans are getting millions in support).  So now, since the democrats aren't getting millions, perhaps this is an attempt to make sure…

Forbes: $6 Gas?

Gas at $6.00 a gallon is very likely by summer and to at least $4.00 by spring, and according to this article, current conditions do not support such an increase normally.  Very likely, the president will do nothing or have nothing he can or is willing to do to stop it, because of other conditions that are causing speculation..................and yes, rejecting the keystone pipeline was not a good move.

Oil is…

The Blaze: Rev. Franklin Graham Refuses to Say Obama & Romney Are Christians During Contentious MSNBC Interview

Interesting interview, and the video and article are well worth the read and watch time.  Mr. Graham did a nice job avoiding answering the questions provided!  They are so smug when he talks about Santorum, and try to compare Santorum and Obama...............no comparison from my angle, but the interview is horrid for putting Mr. Graham on the spot for choosing a political position in a way.  Your opinion?

Awkward and uncomfortable interviews aren’t…

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
