AFP Legislative Alert: HB 1063 & SB 760 To Repeal Local Business Taxes

TAKE ACTION: TELL THE LEGISLATURE TO REPEAL LOCAL BUSINESS TAXES

The Florida Legislature has stalled two very important bills – HB 1063 by Rep. Marlene O’Toole and SB 760 by Sen. Alan Hays. These bills will repeal the current statutory authority that allows local governments to implement taxes on anyone who operates or engages in business in their…

AFP Tax Alert: SB 7206 Internet Sales Tax

TAKE ACTION AGAINST NEW TAXES: VOICE YOUR OPPOSITION TO

AN INTERNET SALES TAX

During a full-fledged recession, leave it to the Florida Legislature to propose a new tax - and one that they have questionable constitutional authority to enact. On Thursday morning the Senate Subcommittee on Finance and Tax, chaired by Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff, will propose SB 7206 for consideration. This…

Vision to America: Gallup State Numbers Predict Huge Obama Loss

I can't say I am heartbroken, because I am certainly not................quite the opposite!  This is wonderful news and certainly I hope it comes to fruition.

Huffington Post: Komen Cuts Planned Parenthood Grants Months After Arrival Of New VP, Who Is Abortion Foe

How about that.  They have had one of their grants cut by Komen's new vice president because of their abortion services.

Breast cancer charity giant Susan G. Komen for the Cure on Tuesday did not renew a grant to Planned Parenthood to fund breast exams. The move comes less than a year after Komen hired a new vice president, who has…

FOX: Private Sector Adds Fewer Jobs Than Expected in January

What I never understand is the media always totes the number that comes out and consistently that number is knocked down a week later to reflect actual job creation (and we never hear about the lower number).  This month, the original number is bad, but last month's number was also kicked down quite a bit and these number include public sector jobs.

The pace of job creation by private employers slowed more than…

TU: Duval School Board looking at trimming budget again

They never really do what would help most and that is to cut the number of administrators in the school system!  Their plan includes taking bus service for the children going to magnet schools away while keeping every blessed employee of the school department.............pretty soon, they won't be doing anything for the children they serve at all.

Furloughs, retirement…

TU: PolitiJax, ‘Dream Act’ vote halted in Senate committee

This was voted down, but the Dream Act never seems to quite go away as it should.

A measure that would grant in-state tuition to Florida high school students who are U.S. citizens but whose parents are in the country illegally was voted down Tuesday by a Senate committee.

Following nearly an hour of emotional debate, the Senate Higher Education Committee voted down the bill (SB 1018), sometimes known as the “Dream…

TU: PolitiJax: Senate could vote today on prayer at school events

Since when do legislators get to decide about someone's religious freedom?  This is rediculous at a time when amoral behavior is perfectly acceptable!

The Senate is set to vote as early as today on a measure that deeply divides the chamber, allowing school districts to let students lead prayers at public school graduations, football games and other assemblies, as long as adults aren’t involved.

The version of the bill (SB…

TU: Jacksonville mayor makes slew of middle management hires

This does not set well with me, but you will have to decide for yourself.  The mayor has given some of these folks raises that are greater than many people's annual salary, and no one should get a raise over $30,000 when they are public employees.  We can't afford this, and what good are all the cuts the mayor made if he just moving the money from one place to the other?   It ends up being nothing cut at a time when our city is in grave financial condition and has held our police…

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
