ANOTHER QUICK QUESTION: ATLAS SHRUGGED -- The MOVIE

Oh no...previous blast did not allow you a chance to respond.  Please forgive us.  You can do it here under comments.  So sorry!

The First Coast Tea Party is working with Five Points Theatre for a private showing (tea party members only) of Atlas Shrugged on one of these two dates:

Sunday, April 17 - 2:00 PM

Thursday, April 28 - 6:30 PM

Please respond and let us know your preference.  Need this by tomorrow AM -- sorry for the late notice.  Seems that is happening a lot lately.  We just found out Atlas Shrugged would be here and we are only able to secure the theatre for a private showing on these two dates.

Special drawings will take place at the April 15th Tax Day Rally and you can purchase tickets there.

Help please with an answer.  If you can do both -- tell us that too.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the showing of Atlas Shrugged, but I have a word of warning. Ayn Rand’s ideas are complex and the progressive and liberal academic intelligentsias consider her a fascist and a radical extremist. If we are not careful, the Tea Party embracing this movie may result in another barrage of unwarranted charges, name-calling and further attempts to marginalize the movement as extreme zealotry.
Don’t get me wrong, I have waited for years to see this novel put on the screen. It is a very interesting book with a very powerful story, written at the inception of the progressive movement and in which one might say Ayn Rand foretold our present social, political, and economic problems. She confronts the ideas of individualism and utilitarianism head on; that is, the conflict between who is most important to society and the main actor in social growth and development, the individual, or should the individual capitulate his work and creativity to the wishes of society at large.
Our Founding Fathers were individualists and believed that individual freedoms would provide the strongest government and nation. Up until the time of Franklin Roosevelt, most Americans shared this basic belief. Actually, the term “Americanism” in many foreign circles signified this intense individualism. Then the progressives moved in and over the years, we gradually drifted from our core beliefs to the point that progressivism is now entrenched in our society.
A movie like Atlas Shrugged could well be a tool to reactivate a critical debate and educate a younger generation on certain basic ideas that schools don’t teach any more. Yet, we need to be careful that we do not present a blanket endorsement of Ayn Rand and her ideas, because that could cost us dearly.

When you click the website, it says that the movie showing is Sunday at 2:00.  Which is the correct time?

Thanks,

Dennis:  This being shown in movie theatres only right now.  We can certainly get some younger people to spread the message.  Good idea!

The deal is done.  It will be next Sunday, April 17th AND we will try to do this again.  Purchase your tickets (see below) and attend the showing of Atlas Shrugged at Five Points Theatre next Sunday, April 17 at 2:00.  We will hold a private viewing of this movie that is based on the novel that has generated inspiration and major controversy since it was published in 1957.  The theme is about individual achievement in society – when it is valued and when it isn’t.  The movie focuses on what happens when an individual is undervalued, suppressed or demonized.  But don’t worry – this movie will inspire you!  Join other tea party members and watch it together.

To purchase your tickets, go to:  http://atlasstrugged.eventbrite.com/

Depending on the response, we may do this again before the movie leaves town.  Stay tuned!

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
