As the dogs and I walked out to get the paper in the early morning hours of Veterans Day, I saw the full moon glowing in the purple sky and thanked God for a morning such as this.

The air was cool and I shivered as I watched our two dogs roll on the dew-covered grass enjoying the coolness on their winter coats.  They were frisky this morning and played with each other as best-buddy dogs do.

The sounds of early morning filled the air.  Squirrels darted between branches on the magnolia tree and birds chirped as they awaited their God directing them to the first meal of the day.  I was reminded of Matthew 6:26 – “See the birds of heaven; they do not put seeds in the earth, they do not plant grain or put their food in store houses; and your Father in heaven gives them food.  Are you not more valuable than them?”

I said a special thanks to God for reminding me of the richness of His love and the security only He can give us in these troubling times.

Back inside, the aroma of my favorite coffee met me at the door.  My husband had filled my aqua blue coffee cup and handed it to me with a “Good morning” kiss.

He had readied the dog bowls with their favorite food and a treat on top.  Their tails wagged in delight with the slight breeze of the heater blowing their coats out from the morning dew roll.

Our rooster began to crow as the sun took the place of the moon.  The laying hens started to stir knowing that anytime now the “man in the house” would provide their food for the day.

The crunching sounds of our cat munching from her always-full feeder could be heard between the crowing of the rooster.

Words were few but feelings of love were all around me.  My husband had taken care of the needs of our animals and ensured his love for me with the simple gesture of filling my coffee cup.

My God had assured me that no matter if we are rich or poor, He will supply all our needs just as he has done for the birds and the squirrels outside our home.

I am a free woman and in a few short minutes I have experienced more freedoms and love than many across this world.  I am blessed.

I am blessed to live in America because no other nation is as free as We.

My joy of daily living is because some choose to serve their country and fight on my behalf.  I never carried a gun or slept in burrows of the sands of Afghanistan.  I never climbed a hill to take down an enemy as my buddy died in front of my eyes.  I never knew the feeling of a bullet hitting my body.  I never knew the fear of losing a limb and wondering what would become with the rest of my life.  I never knew what nightmares would fill my soul as I tried to sleep to erase the scenes of war.  I never knew how hard it would be to return to my life after watching the horrors of war.  I never saw the joy of rescuing people from dictators and concentration camps.

Because I never knew or saw or experienced what these Veterans did for me, it does not mean I don’t remember they are there.

They are my heroes and because of them, I have enjoyed this beautiful morning in my warm home with love surrounding me.

Thank you to all the Veterans who served this precious country I call my home.  Had it not been for you, my daily life would be different and the joys I experienced this morning are because of you.   I am eternally grateful for your sacrifice.

NOTE:  Please attend a Veterans’ Day Parade in your hometown.  Shake the hand of a vet and thank him for giving you liberty.  Pick up a couple of gift cards and have them in your wallet to hand out to a Veteran or someone in the Military.  Do something for a Vet today.  He did something for you – he gave you the gift of freedom to enjoy your every day life.  How awesome is that?

Unfortunately, I point out, that as corrupt as the federales of the current Chicago oriented mob in the whitehouse and congress are, Jacksonville continues to parallel with olympic class corruption.

I recently obtained performance results regarding the 3 City pension funds, which were published by a consulting firm called Summit.   All 3 City pension funds use Summit for several purposes, including the computation of achieved rates of return.  The results show that the 3 City pension plans/funds (General Employees' and Corrections Officers', which are administered jointly by the City CFO and a 9 member board), and the Police and Fire Pension Fund (PFPF), which is separately administered, all had below average performances.   Some highlights:

(1) The First two plans - General Employees and Corrections Officers Pension Plans (GEPP and COPP), earned 1.20% in fiscal 2011 and 1.91 % per annum for the last 5 fiscal years, BEFORE taking into account costs.    Net returns were about 0.7% and 1.4% respectively.

(2) If those 2 plans had simply indexed all of their assets, they would not have incurred most of their approx $7 million per annum costs, and further would have had higher returns - about 2.3% is fiscal 2011, and about 1.6% per annum for the 5 years.   I.e., active management (instead of indexing) notably hurt, especially in fiscal 2011.

(3) The PFPF did worse - it earned 0.54% in fiscal 2011, and 1.87% per annum for the last 5 years.    Because the PFPF has higher costs as a percentage of assets than the COPP and GEPP do, (PFPF costs have run at about $7 million per year), the net returns were  about negative 0.2% for fiscal 2011, and 1.1% per annum for the last 5 fiscal years.   The PFPF also was notably hurt by relying on active management instead of indexing.

These returns, of course, are far less than the historical assumed rates of return, of 8.4% (GEPP and COPP), and 8.5% (PFPF).   Even though these assumed rates of return will soon be reduced to about 8%, these are still horrible returns.

Latest Obama: Who’s ID’d as organ donor?

November 16, 2011

Officials running a federal program that is considering redefining death are going to be seeking further public comment after members of the Christian Medical Association raised alarms about several problems, including what they believe would be an open door to pressure families to donate organs before their loved one has died.

The proposal could move the federal government closer into alignment with what has been proposed by longtime Barack Obama adviser Cass Sunstein.

Obama’s “regulatory czar” was revealed in 2009 to have pushed strongly for the removal of organs from those who did not give their consent to becoming an organ donor.

In his book, “Nudge: Improving Decisions about Health, Wealth and Happiness,” Sunstein and co-author Richard Thaler presented the possibility of the “routine removal” of organs because “the state owns the rights to body parts of people who are dead or in certain hopeless conditions, and it can remove their organs without asking anyone’s permission.”

FLORIDA  SUNSHINE STATUTES A JOKE IN JACKSONVILLE

• Brown said he already has met with up to 10 Council members and will “absolutely” meet with all of them. According to his posted schedule, he will meet today with Council members Richard Clark, Don Redman, Warren Jones, John Crescimbeni, Matt Schellenberg and Robin Lumb. “I’m meeting with them every day, based on their schedules.”

One at a time or are these public Sunshine meetings?

I've just returned from the Jacksonville National Cemetery where each Veterans Day there's a parade of a different kind. There are no marching bands or clapping and cheering throngs. Instead, there's a steady stream of people -- some in small family groups; others individually -- taking flowers and small flags to the markers of their own veterans.

We appreciate the service members who protect us now. And we appreciate those who protected us in the past who are no longer with us.

Kurt L.   We also fly the flag every day...our youngest son is a Marine vet.  Two weeks ago our grandson graduated from the Air Force boot camp in San Antonio...both of our guys walk tall and love this country.  We spend a lot of time around the Marine base in 29 Palms.  We are so blessed in this country to have young men and women like those we have met on our bases.  Thank you Kurt for what you have given to all of us.  Also, thanks to the Tea Party for waking us all up and getting us off our duffs to fight to take this country back from those who seem to want to destroy it.

THANK YOU to all the veterans who are a member of the FCTP or any other TEA party affiliation, that might read this board.  Extending also, of course, to the ones that are not members of our movement for their sacrifices and commitment to our country, the Great USA!!

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
