If you didn’t turn your clocks back last night, you are one of the lucky ones! You just now realized you have been given one more hour of time and what a precious gift that is.

I had a long day under the covers yesterday. I wasn’t feeling well and the chill in the air kept me on the couch with fuzzy blankets, a snuggling cat, and a day of watching movies in between much needed sleep. I turned on the television and Back to the Future was showing and for some reason I landed on that station and stayed there. It was a melancholy time as I thought about the first time I saw that movie with my young children of 5 and 6 who are now grown and married.

The first film tells the story of Marty McFly, a teenager in 1985 who is accidentally sent back in time to 1955. He befriends his parents in high school, uncomfortably attracting his mother's romantic interest. Marty must fix the damage to history that his appearance back in time has caused. He must get his parents to fall in love again and the only way to do it is to get them on the dance floor at the prom where the magical kiss that helped them fall in love must take place.

If they do not kiss, Marty and his brother and sister will not exist and history will have changed forever. As Marty waits for his parents to kiss, he is playing a guitar and watching a picture of his family little by little change through the disappearance of his brother, his sister and finally Marty is about to disappear too. At the last minute, they kiss and the family is restored and renewed and Marty finds his way back to the future.

As I watched his family disappearing in that photo, I thought of America. Strange, I know…but that’s me. I always look for signs and this one showed up.

This past Tuesday, Election Day, we were given time. Had the people not stood up, rallied against tyranny, and voted for the Republic – the America we know and love might have disappeared. Because we did stand up, we have time to regain our standing in the world and regroup as a nation.

There is a lot of work to do. Tuesday did not signal the end of the fight. It was just one battle and there will be many more. Those who wanted the Republic to die are not going away quietly. They believe in their mission as much as we believe in ours.

As the new Congress takes the keys (and the mallet) from the old, our job is to hold them accountable to the seats we gave them. History was made last Tuesday night and we will continue to make history as we hold them accountable – an idea very new in America and something very needed!

How can we do that? We have our ideas and we are anxious to hear from you. Let us know what you think needs to be done to hold Congress accountable and list them below. We will capture your ideas and along with others, we will have the blueprint for our recovery.

We’re not OUTATIME and it will take all of us pulling together with our talents, expertise and our personal, devoted time to take us back to our future.

Eric, all the things you speak of have not been forgotten and there are many cases working their way up through the system not the least of which is the case concerning GM where I believe our pres is going to get his butt kicked badly! He violated the law by doing what he did, and he is supposed to uphold and enforce the law. One can feel sorry for our friends, but we can't violate the laws of the land to help them ................

And I would like to see the Republicans be able to get something settled once and for all about ensuring that our military gets to vote!! I saw last week that the American astronauts at the international space station voted via secure email. If we can get votes from outer space then we sure as heck should be able to get them from across the ocean!

An outstanding start would begin with term limits, an end to earmarks, and perish the thought a restoration of the bicameral government our framers envisioned. Until the senate is restored to a legislative body which is composed of members directly appointed by the state governors and legislatures, the Federal government will continue to remain out of control on one issue or another. The issues of importance and the best approach to their solution varies state to state, this was the original reasoning for an appointed senate in the first place. Things like TARP, the bailout of the union by violating the contract interests of bondholders in favor of giving the UAW controlling stock in GM and Chrysler, the shutdown of independent privately held dealerships by political fiat, and the whole healthcare abomination would never have gotten past a senate populated by individuals who in turn had to answer to their respective state legislatures to keep their jobs...what was that ever elusive term...oh yeah, accountability.
'Nuff said!

Repeal the 17th amendment, pass the balanced budget amendment, pass the Fair Tax.

Institute public hearings for the restoration of the Tenth Amendment and govern by the following principle:
"The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce. ... The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives and liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement and prosperity of the State."
James Madison, Father of the Constitution in Federalist 45.

Thanks for all your comments. I am heading to DC in the a.m. and taking everything with me. I am going to compile them into a document and look for the best ideas to get everyone involved. We need help in this movement and all of you appear to be smarter than heck! Thanks for jumping in and please feel free to add to it and keep them coming. I've got time in my hotel room to get some work done.

God bless you all and thanks for all you do.

Delete Comment Valerie, you are soooo correct. Education which is what we try to do at every function must be number one. Maybe we need to consider reaching out some and trying to touch a larger group of people somehow? As you have pointed out in your example there is a right and wrong way to look at things. The thing you lady didn't realize is that the founding fathers didn't want the federal government in the charity business at all because it was redistributive as the federal government produces nothing (but bills.......and of late, they are producing bigger and more). The founders wanted any good works or help offered by the private sector by either family or church and perhaps town or city but never ever to go above the state level (and certainly not to be mandated by the feds for the state to do as in the health care bill). The federal government has reached far beyond their constitutional boundaries and that needs to change, but because of people like the lady you spoke to, it can't happen overnight (but there does have to be a real plan and something put in place to stop the next Obama because there will be one).

1. One group should focus on print and broadcast media. We should respond each time they misrepresent information. Programs that are tax payer funded should not be referred to as free. VPK is not free. It is taxpayer funded day care. They should be challenged whenever statistics are used to suggest that skin color is a cause of low graduation rates. We should not allow the media to use adjectives to classify citizens. I am an AMERICAN of Irish and French decent. I am not an Irish-American. I am proud of my ancestors but I am an unqualified citizen of the United States of American.

2. Perhaps we should publish a weekly paper as an alternative to the Folio Weekly. With such a medium perhaps we could reach others with information and ideas that the legacy media will not publish.

3. We need a social media presence where ideas can be debated with the younger generations.

4. We need to expose environmental groups as special interest groups that transfer taxpayer funds to large corporations. Reference incentives for solar panels on roofs. Solar energy is a last century technology that failed to be commercially viable. Special interest continues to promote the alchemy of converting sunlight to electricity. How long can you beat a dead horse?

5. Elected officials should be challenged to show where the constitution allows government to use tax payer funds to promote specific products such as solar panels and CFL’s.

6. The EPA should have their budget for the current year reduced by 20% with the goal to eliminate it or as a minimum reduce it to its original function.

7. We should allow all tax payer subsidies for ethanol to expire at the end of 2010.

8. We should demand a debate of the science of global warming / climate change on the floor of congress. The potential impact of proposals to “save the planet” is so great to not debate the science is inexcusable. Remember that at one time people in power knew that the sun orbited the earth. Galileo was placed under house arrest for presenting his observation to the contrary.

9. We should focus on education. Perhaps the federal Department of Education should be eliminated. We should demand that our local school system educate our students to be critical thinkers. We should demand that parents take responsibility for the education of their children. Parents need to be involved with their children’s schools. They cannot take a “hands off” role.

10. We need a method of communicating with elected officials that will allow them to quickly get and sort information from many people. Perhaps a standard format that can be developed that would allow individual expression. I am not suggesting the use of form letters.

The Newly elected as well as the ones whom for what ever reason managed to remain need a report card, namely the Newbies of course would rate a zero in all catagories as they havent done any thing as yet, The Remaining need a Report card that rates them a d- at best, They must realize they are just above a failure, With this needs to attached a lesson plan from "WE THE PEOPLE" their Employer/Supervisor, the basic ABC rating system is elementry but face it this is what we are dealing with just Power hungry People of past Promises and the new hopefuls that are full of determination. If "WE THE PEOPLE" need to go back and hand carry our denands so be it, Anything done would be most effective if a large representative groupfrom accross the country would be involved, A letter message might be effective???????.

In response to all of the wonderful suggestions that many of you have made are correct. I think we need to focus on the City Council, School Board any elected officals that represent us Judges, attorney's and then proceed to Tallahassee, then to the White House.Making Certain that we have local phone #'s,e-mails ,faxes ,and to maintain contact with them to let them know that First Coast Tea Party had a lot to do with them being there and they are accountable to us and WE THE PEOPLE... Thanks,Ray Noles

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
