If you didn’t turn your clocks back last night, you are one of the lucky ones! You just now realized you have been given one more hour of time and what a precious gift that is.

I had a long day under the covers yesterday. I wasn’t feeling well and the chill in the air kept me on the couch with fuzzy blankets, a snuggling cat, and a day of watching movies in between much needed sleep. I turned on the television and Back to the Future was showing and for some reason I landed on that station and stayed there. It was a melancholy time as I thought about the first time I saw that movie with my young children of 5 and 6 who are now grown and married.

The first film tells the story of Marty McFly, a teenager in 1985 who is accidentally sent back in time to 1955. He befriends his parents in high school, uncomfortably attracting his mother's romantic interest. Marty must fix the damage to history that his appearance back in time has caused. He must get his parents to fall in love again and the only way to do it is to get them on the dance floor at the prom where the magical kiss that helped them fall in love must take place.

If they do not kiss, Marty and his brother and sister will not exist and history will have changed forever. As Marty waits for his parents to kiss, he is playing a guitar and watching a picture of his family little by little change through the disappearance of his brother, his sister and finally Marty is about to disappear too. At the last minute, they kiss and the family is restored and renewed and Marty finds his way back to the future.

As I watched his family disappearing in that photo, I thought of America. Strange, I know…but that’s me. I always look for signs and this one showed up.

This past Tuesday, Election Day, we were given time. Had the people not stood up, rallied against tyranny, and voted for the Republic – the America we know and love might have disappeared. Because we did stand up, we have time to regain our standing in the world and regroup as a nation.

There is a lot of work to do. Tuesday did not signal the end of the fight. It was just one battle and there will be many more. Those who wanted the Republic to die are not going away quietly. They believe in their mission as much as we believe in ours.

As the new Congress takes the keys (and the mallet) from the old, our job is to hold them accountable to the seats we gave them. History was made last Tuesday night and we will continue to make history as we hold them accountable – an idea very new in America and something very needed!

How can we do that? We have our ideas and we are anxious to hear from you. Let us know what you think needs to be done to hold Congress accountable and list them below. We will capture your ideas and along with others, we will have the blueprint for our recovery.

We’re not OUTATIME and it will take all of us pulling together with our talents, expertise and our personal, devoted time to take us back to our future.

What has me concerned is the fact that if the Republicans start doing what really needs to be done (cutting taxes, cutting entitlements, etc), the American people are going to go berserk, including a lot of us who don't even realize how dependent we are on government. Face it, the last three generations at least has been raised with more and more government control and oversight and hand-outs. They (the government) are in every aspect of our lives. We have to be ready to accept responsibility for our lives, do without some things, make sacrifices, etc., if this is really going to work. I think conservatives are willing to do that - but the rest of America? I don't know. We may end up seeing France-like rioting in the streets when the government starts cutting the apron strings, like children throwing temper tantrums. That is when the politicians are going to need our encouragement and support and reinforcement more than ever!

Amando, we are not out of the woods yet. Obama has some plans to do things without congressional approval. How the new congress handles those little episodes is very important. The cuts they make in spending are important; they have to start getting rid of whole departments. I do note however that the O is now trying to paint this trip as a jobs hunt..............it isn't and the trip had been cancelled twice already and needed to be made, but he knows people have had it (just the fact he has said what he has is the glaring truth that he understands we are fed up with the spending). He will now try, as hard as possible, to paint the republicans as the bad guys and try to make what he has done be about making the economy better (it wasn't and it was his agenda, but he knows he has been caught with his pants down).

Amen. The important thought in our minds is how close we were to losing our nation and our liberty. All ideas are good. The most important is not to forget the danger and rest on our laurels. The fight is just beginning, and we should not stop until our country is in the right hands. We need to confront government at every level and make them accountable to the people, no to their parties or special interests. It won't be easy, but this past election shows that the American people share these ideals, and we can't stop...now or ever.

I agree, Kim. Maybe we should present all our elected officials (federal, state and local) with a little pair of eyeglasses with a note that says "we're watching you" just so they don't forget :)

"Let us know what you think needs to be done to hold Congress accountable and list them below. "

Not only Congress, but State Government and Local Government should be held accountable. I agree with Robert Tipton's idea of staying in continual contact with our elected representatives and I like the idea of teams or committees assigned to each so that contact is consistent and also, so our elected representatives have a point of contact so they can respond to us. That being said, it is high time our elected representatives respond to us! It would be nice to see them and hear from them when there are issues to be voted on. How else are they going to know what We The People want? It is all about what We The People want, not what They The Elected want.

I recommend that we remain vigilant in being knowledgeable about the issues before us and in educating as many people as possible. Our representatives will take us seriously if they realize that we know what we are talking about and present that knowledge in a cohesive, coherent manner. They are more apt to take our phone calls and accept our invitations to town halls and meetings. Knowledgeable constituents will be either their best friends or their worst nightmare. It is entirely up to them. They should know that. We should be sure and tell them.

Michelle Bachmann is also going to be in charge of the caucus for the new people which I am ever so grateful for. She is such a dynamo!

Michelle Bachmann stood by those guys every time. They better make sure she is in charge of a committee. I don't care who the person is who is "his" friend. Where would they have been if Michelle hadn't put her neck on the chopping block countless times. I just wondered; Cantor never seems to be a bad guy and he is the one who started "you cut" which I think is great (and I hope the will continue it ...only now some of the things might actually pass). MB is also not one of the new people coming in; she has been there and deserves a chance.

Pat, it was this morning with Chris Wallace. There is a committee that Michelle Bachmann is up for chairmanship and another Republican who is a "good old boy", one of the old friends of Cantor. Cantor is backing that guy saying "I've known him a long time". It smacks of the good old boy network, the old cronyism that has gone on up there forever.

Billie, I also think this might be a good area meeting subject for each group. There could be a meeting for each area and a discussion about what everyone thinks is important for us to do over the next 2 years (as well as how they feel about the outcome of last week's elections). We might get a great deal of very good feedback from people who don't come to the ning site or aren't "on line".

Valarie, when did Eric Cantor do that? I have seen him a couple of times of late and I didn't hear him say anything bad about anyone. I also think it is great that West is going to join the black congressional caucus. He ought to put a real bee in their little bonnets :), and they won't win many arguments with him either. Col West has more common sense than all of the other members of that organization combined.

Just heard Eric Cantor on with Chris Wallace and he's already equivocating. He is trying to downplay the tea-party backed candidates in Congress. I hope Eric Cantor understands that he can be gone next election just as easily as anybody else. Chris Christy was on Meet the Press this morning and was FANTASTIC! He made the statement that if these Republicans start playing the same old games, the American people are going to be able to smell it a mile away, and they will be banished. He is so right. As much as we have watched the Democrats, we are now going to have to watch the Republicans even more closely. There are now 80+ tea-party backed candidates in the Congress. All the eyes in the country are on us. What happens in Congress now will either prove to the rest of the nation that we are serious or that we're not. We've got an even bigger job on our hands now. We have the wheel of the ship in our hands to a certain extent - we better use it wisely!

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
