Support Chick-fil-A today!!!!!!!! I hear that the lines started early this morning all over Jacksonville. Time to get out and support them..When did it NOT become okay for any business to state their postion on their companies values??

The following is from the Huff Post - Religion:

Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and Fox News host, has had enough of what he called the "vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry" aimed at Chick-fil-A.

On his Facebook page, Huckabee announced that Aug. 1 will be "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," a day on which he is encouraging people to patronize the fast food chain.

SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE

The former presidential candidate is upset that the fast food chicken chain has been the target of criticism in the wake of Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's saying last week that his company supports "the biblical definition of the family unit."

The National Organization for Marriage, a group organized to oppose same-sex marriage, called him a "corporate hero for marriage," while others were quick to condemn his comments.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino even went so far as to tell the Boston Herald that "Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston."

"You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population," he said, according to the Herald. "We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion."

And on Friday, the Jim Henson Company, the group behind "The Muppets" and "Fraggle Rock," released a statement saying it has "notified Chick-fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors." Jim Henson's "Creature Shop" toys are currently available in the company's kid's meals.

Huckabee further explained the purpose of his pro-Chick-fil-A campaign on his Facebook Page:

The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant.

State Sen. Dan Patrick (R-Texas) and the group Concerned Women for America have promoted the event, which is not affiliated with Chick-fil-A.

John, for your perusal.

Amen Patricia, we don't need to be mealy-mouthed about protecting marriage. End divorce, 'til death do us part means just that. The Catholic church kicks you out if you get a divorce. Muslim women are not permitted to even seek a divorce. We need to criminalize adultery again in this country. If you are having sex outside your marriage, it is time for you to go to jail and serve your time.

Ken, you sure won't get an argument from me...............political correctness should be OVER!

Roma, Mr. Cathy's $3,000,000 worth of free speech was about his effort to protect traditional marriage. A worthy cause. I truly believe with all my heart that divorce is a much greater risk to the traditional marriage than is gay marriage. How can I say that? Because Massachusetts has among the lowest rates but they allow gay marriage. Southern states, aka the Bible Belt have among the highest and Baptist the highest among all religions. So really the group we need to work hardest on is Baptists.

One of the groups Mr. Cathy funds, with his own money, is FRC, Family Research Council. Now the Family Research Council has blamed things like hurricanes on gays. That doesn't seem to be conducive to building a concensus among people of different viewpoints.

If protecting marriage as a societal goal is what this is about, then lets do the real things that do protect marriages.

Roma, I respectful question your statement that I tried to turn this conversation into TP vs gay community.  If I stated something you didn't like, address it directly rather than lumping me in with a generalization.  The discussion was shifted long before I commented.

This Chic-fil-A discussion is about freedom of speech.  I think my only mention of "gay" was when I asked Lee about his Rush L. reference since I don't listen to Rush I wasn't familiar with it...

Roma, folks have turned things around. You are right. Yesterday was not about gay rights; it was about freedom of speech and someone having the cahonas to actually skip politically correct and say what he really believed, and he got berated for it because it wasn't what a few other select individuals including some mayors felt was appropriate. We were showing our approval, not of the words but of the right to use those words or any other words on any subject, because that is what the first amendment and freedom of speech is all about. We were in essence countering the remarks made by the Chicago mayor, the Boston mayor and the San Francisco mayor. I also agree that Amanda, Max and some of the other folks that come on here, that may not exactly agree with my beliefs have to say, certainly have a right to voice those opinions or to disagree with what we say just as we can disagree with what they say. We at least do not try to take away the first amendment rights of anyone............it is far too important to understand freedom of speech isn't just for those who agree with one another.

Ken, be very careful on Max. Max, quite obviously, has an agenda, and some of the biblical facts presented in previous posts have not been wholly acurate, and someone who was up on facts, pointed out the errors. That however, does not stop some folks from trying to sway folks to their idea of what is and is not fact in so far as biblical history..........................and personally, I don't think we say the bible is outdated without remembering another group of prog libs, who also have an agenda, think the constitution is outdated and really what we need is a dictatorship cause that is just so much more 21st century...............................

The matter of less population is very much a "one world order" UN crapola thing. In our country, right now, we are not procreating at a rate high enough to stay even. We need to be at 3.11 or so and we are down in the 2. something range. Europe is losing their culture as they are not anywhere near close to the birth rate needed to keep a culture alive, and as many of us are aware, in some countries they are having grave diffiulties with small populations of interlopers in the form of Muslims who want to impose Sharia on everyone in the country.

Also, Ken, then, stop wearing cotton, rayon, denim, spandex, lyrca, polyblend, clothing. Deuteronomy 22:11... etc.

Maxine, the Christian community has a hierarchy of authority that addressed these issues nearly 2,000 years ago at the first catholic council in Jerusalem as recorded in Acts 15. St. Paul and St. Peter had a differance of opinion on the matter of what was allowed behavior for Christians. The resultant decision was that Christians are bound to the sexual mores of Old Testament Judaism but are not bound by dietary, clothing and cultural restrictions. That is not justification for sexual immorality. However, In all matters love and respect for other believers devotional practices should be honored.

This is not a new issue that has never been examined by the church before.

Understand???

Donna, no person has a right to assault another.  I hope you called the cops the very first time he punched you.  When one person assaults another, male on female, female on male, etc.  pick up the damn phone and dial 911 and have them arrested.. and then stay the hell away from them. If they do it once, you can place your bet they will do it again.  Don't ever give someone a second chance to injure you.

Ken, ignoring that debate is smart on your part. Its hard to justify eating bacon as a sin. it tastes so good. But in your Bible it says it is. If any of those rules is no longer followed none of them should be. Including the ones on homosexuality. The truth is, the Bible is a set of rules for Israel to prosper population wise. We are not Israel and honestly we could do with lower population levels world wide.
And no I'm not advocating genocide. But homosexuality, birth control, and condoms sure would help.

This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
