Support Chick-fil-A today!!!!!!!! I hear that the lines started early this morning all over Jacksonville. Time to get out and support them..When did it NOT become okay for any business to state their postion on their companies values??

The following is from the Huff Post - Religion:

Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and Fox News host, has had enough of what he called the "vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry" aimed at Chick-fil-A.

On his Facebook page, Huckabee announced that Aug. 1 will be "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," a day on which he is encouraging people to patronize the fast food chain.

SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE

The former presidential candidate is upset that the fast food chicken chain has been the target of criticism in the wake of Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's saying last week that his company supports "the biblical definition of the family unit."

The National Organization for Marriage, a group organized to oppose same-sex marriage, called him a "corporate hero for marriage," while others were quick to condemn his comments.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino even went so far as to tell the Boston Herald that "Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston."

"You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population," he said, according to the Herald. "We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion."

And on Friday, the Jim Henson Company, the group behind "The Muppets" and "Fraggle Rock," released a statement saying it has "notified Chick-fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors." Jim Henson's "Creature Shop" toys are currently available in the company's kid's meals.

Huckabee further explained the purpose of his pro-Chick-fil-A campaign on his Facebook Page:

The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant.

State Sen. Dan Patrick (R-Texas) and the group Concerned Women for America have promoted the event, which is not affiliated with Chick-fil-A.

Donna, that wasn't a marriage............it was a nightmare! Good heavens, and thank goodness you had the sense to get out. I don't know much about stuff like that, but from what little I have heard and know, most women don't want to let go and keep taking it thinking it will change. I have such a hard time getting my arms around a man who can do something like to a woman.

Then I will give you a rhetorical answer.  If Barack Obama is the President of the United States and the Commander-In-Chief, which he is, then he has sanctioned the killing of people.  I said the act of murder is evil.  There is a distinction.

I will tell her that.  If you asked my wife she would tell you in a hearbeat that our marriage is not perfect, but we find ways to make it work.  She completes me and I complete her.  We are getting much closer to "death do us part", but death is part of life and another step in a long journey.

And on Friday, "gays" plan to have an protest activity against Chick fil-A (most normal people would just boycout a business).  The plan apparently is to go into their stores and put on a sexual performance of kissing and acting out like letches and folks with an itch to scratch.  And then, some folks wonder how come folks don't want a law forcing their BEHAVIOR on everyone and making it against the law for anyone to complain or "discriminate" against them for acting out their based instincts publicly in front of others and others who have their children with them.  The kind of behavior planned is not appropriate for a family restaurant no matter who does it .......... be they hetero or homosexual.  It is just plain inappropriate around other people's children and in a public place where others are who also  also have a right to be there as customers and expect folks to act in an acceptable manner for the place they are.  If someone is incapable of understanding what is and is not acceptable or refuses to behave in a manner that is appropriate to the place where they are, then, they can fully expect to be treated badly.  I hope Chick fil-A has made arrangements to have extra police handy since disrupting someone's business by doing something like what is planned is also going to cause problems for anyone who wants to go in and order lunch or dinner.

Well, I don't want to engage in a discussion about the nature of evil.  That would force me to start quoting philosophers and/or the Bible.  But you have to have some basis on which to judge what is or what is not evil.  Hitler and his henchmen murdered six million Jews.  The alleged Colorado gunman murdered twelve people.  Is Hitler more evil than the gunman?  Personally, I think murdering one person is just as evil as murdering six million people.  The only difference is in the scale of the act.

Lee, you describe a successful relationship so eloquently!  I am at 30 years with my husband, and we have both grown and changed, if we hadn't I would wonder why! Life is never perfect, and marriage is never perfect - but we made a committment; we say we are checking off the list of vows.. you know, richer, poorer, sickness, health.. (well, we're still working on the richer part..)   I dread the day we reach the "until death do us part."  That is the only vow I don't want to keep.. I can't imagine life without him.. Tell your wife I said "way to go", obviously you two know how to make it work.

It is a given that people change over time.  That is not an excuse for divorce.  If we assume that both parties have maturity of judgement, then ways can be found to accomodate change.  Egos have to be put aside, find ways to appreciate the positive qualities of your partner, and determine to overlook the negative qualities.

Lee, thanks for the Rush clarification...

I understand what you are saying but I have a difficult time personally in any comparison to Hitler, the Gestapo, etc.  It is not that the tactics of any radical group may not be similar, but it is because Hitler's actions should stand alone, as some of the most evil of modern mankind.

Thanks again, Lee.  and congrats on 42 years with your loved one, the two of you are a wonderful example of what keeping a committment really means.

Edge?

You said it was tradition. I was just listing traditions and abominations. Do you follow those rules or not? If not, then why are you breaking gods law? Why are you cherry picking the rules you want to follow, and enforce on others?

That isn't how religion works. IF you are going to prescribe yourself to a book of rules you should follow all of them. The moment any of them is no longer follow-able then none of them are.

Rush used "Gay Gestapo" to describe radical activists of the gay community who pursue their political agenda to the extent they think it necessary for them to engage in confrontational tactics to effect political change.

Hitler's Gestapo used similar tactics and even worse actions against the Jews in Germany during WWII.  I think it would be more appropriate to compare them to Brown Shirts rather than Gestapo.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
