Support Chick-fil-A today!!!!!!!! I hear that the lines started early this morning all over Jacksonville. Time to get out and support them..When did it NOT become okay for any business to state their postion on their companies values??

The following is from the Huff Post - Religion:

Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and Fox News host, has had enough of what he called the "vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry" aimed at Chick-fil-A.

On his Facebook page, Huckabee announced that Aug. 1 will be "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," a day on which he is encouraging people to patronize the fast food chain.

SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE

The former presidential candidate is upset that the fast food chicken chain has been the target of criticism in the wake of Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's saying last week that his company supports "the biblical definition of the family unit."

The National Organization for Marriage, a group organized to oppose same-sex marriage, called him a "corporate hero for marriage," while others were quick to condemn his comments.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino even went so far as to tell the Boston Herald that "Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston."

"You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population," he said, according to the Herald. "We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion."

And on Friday, the Jim Henson Company, the group behind "The Muppets" and "Fraggle Rock," released a statement saying it has "notified Chick-fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors." Jim Henson's "Creature Shop" toys are currently available in the company's kid's meals.

Huckabee further explained the purpose of his pro-Chick-fil-A campaign on his Facebook Page:

The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant.

State Sen. Dan Patrick (R-Texas) and the group Concerned Women for America have promoted the event, which is not affiliated with Chick-fil-A.

Huckabee's full statement about "Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day" is on his website

I don't want the government to tell me that I can't marry anyone I might love. Whether then are male, female, trans* or if I have multiple partners.

The christians can claim its not a marriage all they want, but all I'm asking for is a the remove of marriage FROM the government and replacing it with a contract that does the same things and never says that word. But is also not limited to heterosexual couples.

If Christians want to claim marriage is a religious institution that's fine, get it out of the government.  But families of any type, any size, should be allowed to establish themselves for the purposes of shared wealth, shared assets, shared power of attorney, shared responsibilities, and shared healthcare benefits. Its not a marriage, its a contract between those loving people to take care of each other and to share the good and bad.

Let marriages stay in the church, I don't want them. But I want my loving long term relationships legally protected too.

Roma and Tom, that is fine, but you can't have it both ways and then turn around and say that because it is in your beliefs people can't do something.

Marriage may be in your beliefs as being a heterosexual privilege, but you have no right to force that belief on others.

Helen Rose Chestnut- your comment has to be the most humane and thoughtful one written today, and perhaps for a long time!  txs

Maxine - You should be commended for choosing to be part of, and remaining in,  the Tea Party, as it is obvious so many here would prefer to drive you away, and call you childish names.  Stay, and fight for what you believe in.. you have freedom of speech too..

Roma - thank you for reminding us as you stated "Show me where in the Mission Statement that it says we need to stand against the gay community...The Mission Statement calls for a return to the Constitution, lower taxes, smaller government, and Founding Father Principles."  The TP getting sucked into this controversy IS a distraction... well planned by the democrats. IMHO

CEO Cathy has the freedom of speech to state his opinions as do we all, including the mayors of Chicago and Boston...  Likewise we have the right to agree or disagree, we can shop at CFA restaurants or we can stay away.  Things which make America great.

There are people who only support CFA today for Freedom of Speech.  There are others who are there only because they believe and agree with Cathy's Christian viewpoint. And then there are those who agree with both.  ALL are important, as it is what makes our system strong - we agree to disagree and yet come together with peaceful and civil actions.

In regards to children with two loving parents of the same sex (many of whom are adopted vs aborted). How about kids who grow up with "straight" mommy and daddy where mommy drinks and daddy beats the ever-loving crap out of the kids and mom each week? Which of those kids will be hurt more?

....But this is a distraction by the left.. the issue is freedom of speech...

Ken, You keep forgetting the part where I said the government shouldn't regulate or sanctify ANY marriage. Het or Hom.

Everyone should get Civil Unions when its government related and only able to call it marriage because that's what they want to call it. Not because that's the legal term.

If you want to be the only ones who get marriage and want to claim its a special right for heterosexual christians only. Then I want you to start attempting to to outlaw athiest, buddists, muslims, vikings, american natives, and hindi heterosexuals from getting married too.

I'm also going to claim that Computers, the internet, most electronic devices, encryption that protects your personal health information, and The designer clothes, various healthcare items and medicines, and more are all Homosexual rights because they were all invented and created by homosexuals and that as a heterosexual you have no right to them. It is blasphemous to my religion for you to touch our homosexual created products.

Please remove yourself from the internet, You've been banned by the homosexual Menace. .

Just left Regency Chick Fil A.  Took an hour to get to the front of the line.  There were two lines two to three deep.  The wait was a lot of fun talking to like minded people.  Lots of support there, as far as I could tell everyone was there to support Christians and Freedom of Speech.

Pam Jackson was handing out "Standing up for America" stickers.  I don't know if she ever got to eat.

This was the most positive experience I have had politically in a very long time - I guess since waving signs to support Jan Brewer's Arizona Immigration Law.

Maybe you should stop worrying about things like gays getting the same rights. which will never affect you, and worry about the internet censorship, ndaa, and un treaties that are poised to dismantle groups like this and take away american guns and free speech.

No one was ever harmed by given gay couples legal protections afforded to heterosexual couples. It's all about taxes, poa, and benefits.

Again, It shouldn't even be called marriage in legal documents, Heterosexual or homosexual. It should just be a incorporated family contract. with "Family" meaning any two people who work together as a whole to uplift each other.

You wanna call it a marriage in your church? Go ahead. But the government shouldn't call it that.

Also how would you feel if the spouse you've loved for 30 years is dying in a hospital because they can't afford the medical service they need, and the hospital refuses to accept your insurance to pay for it? Then they refuse to let you be with them while they suffer alone in that room. Then the state takes it claim the assess you and your spouse shared and hands them over to their family and tells you you have no rights to them. Their family then refuses to accept the will with your name on it and refuses to acknowledge your spouses requests for burial. And buries them in a way that goes against their will.

You'd be pissed right? Does any of that affect you if a man who loves a man gets protected from those things? The heartbreak, loss, theft, and abuse of their loved one.

To equate Gay Rights Movement to the Historic Civil Rights battle fought for by Blacks and whites is a farce.....even the African American Community rejects the comparison.

John, it has nothing to do with Cathy. It has to do with the 5million they've spent in money towards hate groups.

I've been Boycotting Chik Fil A since it first came to light which was a few years ago.

Leanne king, you oppose 2012-296 which would protect minorities from oppression. You means you want to be allowed to legally oppress those minorities. Your actions speak louder then your words.

You have no idea why I oppose 296,, it is much deeper than this comment. I am just not going there, if you want to chat about it use my email.. Off line.. This post is about Chick-fil-A..

Danny, I'm in no way a Liberal. They actually do not have a political party that I fit into because I'm a social liberty, fiscal reformist. The closest thing we have is Libertarians.

I think the Fed needs dismantled, The military spending cut in half at least (We spend more then 3 times the amount of money that ALL other countries spend combined.), That we need to stop policing the planet. And that people as individuals should be allowed to do what ever they want as long as it doesn't directly interfere with other peoples rights to do what ever they want.

I think we should be spending the money we save by cutting the military in half in promoting higher education, industry, and businesses in the US, and making sure that all Americans are as healthy as possible.

I think that people should be allowed to grow food, catch water, and do what ever they want on their own land. Including growing crops like Hemp, Marijuana, fruits, vegetables.

I think we should stop importing all of our products from other countries and become more isolation - non participatory oriented like we were pre-WWI

I think we need to crack down on the size any bank, or individual corporation or umbrella corporation can get.

The government should print money not a bank, and that our money should be backed by a feasible value system and not one of constant interest, debt, and inflation.

I think everyone in the nation should be required to do some measure of military training pre-college, including learning to operate a firearm, and having a Government issued firearm given to them. And granting them the responsibility of forming a militia in the case of an attack or emergency.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
