Support Chick-fil-A today!!!!!!!! I hear that the lines started early this morning all over Jacksonville. Time to get out and support them..When did it NOT become okay for any business to state their postion on their companies values??
The following is from the Huff Post - Religion:
Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and Fox News host, has had enough of what he called the "vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry" aimed at Chick-fil-A.
On his Facebook page, Huckabee announced that Aug. 1 will be "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," a day on which he is encouraging people to patronize the fast food chain.
SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE
The former presidential candidate is upset that the fast food chicken chain has been the target of criticism in the wake of Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's saying last week that his company supports "the biblical definition of the family unit."
The National Organization for Marriage, a group organized to oppose same-sex marriage, called him a "corporate hero for marriage," while others were quick to condemn his comments.
Boston Mayor Thomas Menino even went so far as to tell the Boston Herald that "Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston."
"You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population," he said, according to the Herald. "We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion."
And on Friday, the Jim Henson Company, the group behind "The Muppets" and "Fraggle Rock," released a statement saying it has "notified Chick-fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors." Jim Henson's "Creature Shop" toys are currently available in the company's kid's meals.
Huckabee further explained the purpose of his pro-Chick-fil-A campaign on his Facebook Page:
The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant.
State Sen. Dan Patrick (R-Texas) and the group Concerned Women for America have promoted the event, which is not affiliated with Chick-fil-A.
Huckabee's full statement about "Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day" is on his website

I have read a few of Maxine's post's here, and i believe she is a liberal. I do not believe anything we say will open her eyes. This is not a Gay Right's issue, it is a Free Speach and Freedom of Religion issue. If you try to force people to do what you want them to do, as liberals are trying to do, it will back fire every time. Conservitives want people to be free to think and say what they want. Excluding hate speach. Liberals want everyone to think like them, if they don't, they must be raceist.
I will admit, not all religious people are bad. Some are pretty awesome.

This discussion is becoming insane! I think I will just go to Chic fil A for a sandwich. However, I do not support any kind of hate speech and that includes any remarks made to Maxine. Love and caring is the answer folks - not name calling. I condemn anything here that is not said out of respect and love of your fellow man!
Leanne king, you oppose 2012-296 which would protect minorities from oppression. You means you want to be allowed to legally oppress those minorities. Your actions speak louder then your words.
Sorry Ken, Religion doesn't belong in the Government business. It's a Separation of Church and State issue.
You do what you want in your church. You start sticking it in my face and you'll discover there are certain consequences for it. When you force your illogical behavior into the face of others then whatever they do to protect THEIR rights to not have their rights oppressed by your sick thinking or protect their children and/or grandchildren is okay by me and I have no sympathy for you or others like you.
Maxine, my last comment will be - these are your words not mine. Fine to quote me but only with MY WORDS.
"IF you believed in Liberty you wouldn't be against protecting minorities, and you wouldn't be trying to set up "Special Classes" as you like to call them by saying Heterosexuals are better then homosexuals and homosexuals do not deserve the same rights." That's not liberty its oppression." THAT, I NEVER SAID nor DID I EVER IMPLY IT.
Helen, I was at the Landing too. :x With my dad and my step-mom. I also went to Tallahassee and took a bunch of the pictures there.
I'm voting for Gary Johnson. Neither Obama or Romney are fit to serve.
Many Religious Right activists have attempted to rewrite history by asserting that the United States government derived from Christian foundations, that our Founding Fathers originally aimed for a Christian nation. This idea simply does not hold to the historical evidence.
Of course many Americans did practice Christianity, but so also did many believe in deistic philosophy. Indeed, most of our influential Founding Fathers, although they respected the rights of other religionists, held to deism and Freemasonry tenets rather than to Christianity.
Unlike most governments of the past, the American Founding Fathers set up a government divorced from any religion. Their establishment of a secular government did not require a reflection to themselves of its origin; they knew this as a ubiquitous unspoken given. However, as the United States delved into international affairs, few foreign nations knew about the intentions of the U.S. For this reason, an insight from at a little known but legal document written in the late 1700s explicitly reveals the secular nature of the U.S. goverenment to a foreign nation. Officially called the "Treaty of peace and friendship between the United States of America and the Bey and Subjects of Tripoli, of Barbary," most refer to it as simply the Treaty of Tripoli. In Article 11, it states:
"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
Maxine is not a weird o. She just doesn't see things the way most of us Tea Party members see it.Actually I went to Washington too Maxine and the Tea Party today is the same one I joined with on Feb 27, 2012. In fact, the chairman today is the same person who was one of about 40 who came to the Landing to protest spending, taxes etc. Sorry you do not feel the same as you did before. We need you too on election day to help save this country from total distruction!
Maxine Jessica Roberts, you are wrong. First, i will do some reserch on your statements, i do not believe the owner of Chic-Fil-A believes Gay people should be executed, or even arrested and\or detained just for being Gay, but i will reserch this. I never just believe what someone says, i look it up. As for your statment about Religion not haveing a place in American government, i believe if they could, our founding fathers would disagree with you there. Remember, we Americans call our Constitutional Rights, our God given rights, because our Constitution was based on God's laws from the Bible. When God makes a law, it never changes. When man makes a law, man can and almost always does change it.
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
