Don't let the talking heads get you down
Yesterday was rough for Americans. We had the rug pulled out from under us again as our hard earned and hard saved 401(k), pension and IRA dollars were snatched out of our accounts. The stock market took a dive into the deep end of the pool.
As the stock market was crashing, I was spending my afternoon with Mother who may have broken her foot. (waiting on x-rays for confirmation) A can of Pledge furniture polish fell off the table and on the top of her foot. She’s 87 and as tiny as Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree; so it didn’t take much for her foot to swell and turn a bright blue. We were in the doctor’s office as we waited for nearly 2 hours to see the doctor. Then off they sent us for x-rays. I got there at 4:45 and they were closed! The hours on the door said 7:00-5:00 but they decided to close early! (An example of great customer service in our new era of healthcare.) I put Mother back in the car and off to the hospital for the x-ray. We waited in the waiting room for a while and then she was wheeled into the x-ray area so we could wait in the hallway for a while. Eventually the x-ray was completed; we picked up take out for dinner and collapsed at home for the evening.
Everywhere I went the buzz could be heard about the stock market crashing and how it would affect them. I had a lot of time to talk to these medical workers and one sweet woman in the Chinese restaurant as I waited for our take out. I can tell you one thing – they are not blaming our President. They are blaming the Democrats and Republicans for not being able to talk and work things out! Here are some of their talking points:
- If the rich people would just give up a little money, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
- If everyone could just get along, it would be okay
- People need to tone down their anger and discuss things
- And my favorite from the sweet woman in the restaurant: “Why can’t we get free medical care like they have in Cuba?”
I wasn’t sure if my head was going to explode from watching our retirement tank or from listening to the “got it from MSNBC news talking points” of the people I met.
I didn’t even try to reason with them. I had run out of steam at that point and all I wanted to do was get home, curl up in a fetal position and eat my pork fried rice.
After Mother got settled with her foot elevated higher than our debt ceiling, I was finally able to get in a good cry. There’s nothing like a good cry to get you ready for the battle ahead.
First and foremost, after listening to the talking points from the general public and the hateful liberals on the left, let the Tea Party talking points now be known:
- Obama is America’s leader and the buck stops with him. When you become the leader of an organization or a country – whatever happens on your watch – you own it. Period.
- The Republicans did talk and did negotiate. They even got Tea Party members to go over to the “GOP dark side” to facilitate negotiations.
- The Democrat-filled Senate failed to take up important legislation passed by the Republicans in the House and THEY stopped the debate.
- The Tea Party IS NOT responsible for this mess. We sounded the alarm about out of control spending and how our grandchildren would pay for their policies. You can’t blame the firefighter for the fire.
In my career, I have worked with CEOs and their executive teams. I’ve seen a lot of well run companies and every now and then a surprise shows up and impacts the organization. I remember one company who was hit by a huge surprise that almost took the company down. The owner of the business did the following:
- Rolled up his sleeves and got to work (he stopped golfing, hunting and vacations)
- Called in his staff and told them the bad news while giving them assurance that they would survive this surprise and he smiled and kept an optimistic spirit (while praying for divine guidance)
- Asked his staff to help him by looking for ways to cut expenses
- He stopped spending too and set the example for others to do the same
- Got on the phone with his creditors and negotiated new terms of repayment
- Called in a turnaround specialist who helped him see things more clearly
- Asked his staff to take cuts in pay after he cut his pay in half first (he restored their cuts when the company was whole again)
- His team looked for new business and cut their prices in order to get the contracts
- Sought financial help from those who believed in him and his company
- Never gave up on his company, his people and his reputation in the industry
- Had a party with ALL the people and celebrated when the final payment was made to the last creditor. We watched him build a bonfire and throw in the contract that was finally complete.
- Learned from his mistakes
That ladies and gentlemen is what a real leader does -- if they care about their company or their country. This is also the behavior the American people are looking for in their leader. We are sick of Obama’s speeches and we are sick of the talking heads who agree with his mantra. We are also sick that our retirement will now take a hit for his lack of leadership. We always knew our grandkids would be affected but now he’s done it to us and that will be his demise in November 2012.
The American people are looking for leadership and if Obama wants to be a leader, the story of how the CEO above saved his company would serve him well. Of course, Mr. Obama will run to what he thinks will fix this mess – raising taxes. That will not do it! If my client had raised prices to get more work, he would not have kept his company alive. Instead, he looked at waste in the company first and Obama should do the same. Americans have a list of areas he can cut before taxes are raised. He can start with a few in the “alphabet” departments of our government: EPA, DOT, DOE, and on and on.
The Tea Party may be blamed for our downgrade by the bobble-heads on the left but the American people know it isn’t so. The membership of the tea party is growing daily because this is the only place people can find real leadership and reality based-conversations. The truth belongs to the tea party movement and the whining belongs to the left. As for the GOP, not sure what their place is but hope they find it soon (hint: talk to the tea party guys).
As a new day dawns, be encouraged that the God of our founding fathers is still the God of today. He will see us through these difficult times.
Please lean in to Him if a can of Pledge changes your life today or you decide to sit in a fetal position until this crisis is over! The world needs America -- so get your crying over with and put on your big/girl pants. America didn’t raise no sissies and the world needs Leadership!
Action Item: As the election season heats up, I thought it would be good for us to describe our next President. Please issue your comments below and we’ll compile a Presidential Template. We can then use it as we listen to the next batch of Presidential talking-heads and try to find the best one who can fix this filthy-mess they will inherit. I’ll start with just a few of my own thoughts:
- Courageous
- Constitutional scholar
- Patriotic
- Wise
- Loves God

That's right Billie,
when our ancestors arrived in America, many had no money, no job and no home. Even worse, some were indentured servants and some were slaves. They didn't get off the ship and demand welfare, healthcare and a free ride. They worked hard so they could eat and so their children would prosper. They risked everything for a chance to be free and to have religious freedom.
Our new President must be a leader who will inspire Americans quit whining to get to work restoring this great country.

Hope your mother is doing better today, Billie, and that she recovers quickly.
An interesting exercise today as I thought about the characteristics I want in a president. I finally pulled out a piece of paper jotting down and scratching out words. Then, to make it easier, I began writing down names and what I admire about them the most.
My candidate for president would have:
Sarah Palen's honesty and tenacity, Marco Rubio's love of this country and what it stands for, Ronald Reagan's communication skills, Mitt Romney and Herman Cain's business know-how, George W. Bush's decency and Mark Levin's constitutional expertise.

My Friend Lives in Croydon ,London . Just down the street is where riot's started. She was told to stay in her house. they were pulling people from their cars and setting them on fire. She was sharing that the people, are not allowed to defend themselves as they would be the ones to go to jail. Dear God! Yes, America Needs to Repent . If My people will humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways.

Experienced in something besides politics. I would like to see a person who knows how to run our economy and who talks and walks common sense = cut, cap and balance. I want someone who loves this country and is proud to be an American. I want someone who understands that Soc. Security is not an entitlement program which is a gift = we put that money into the program, or I should say it was taken from us to put into it so we would have it when we retired. I want someone who is not politically correct if it doesn't serve the country. Someone honest with integrity who will take responsibility to do the job and get this country back on track. Male or female, black or white does not matter. Just someone willing to do the hard things and trim this Govt. back.

As a nation we have been richly blessed by the Lord God Almighty. He has shown us many times that everything we have is provided by Him and that we are in control of none of it. Any time He wants he can take it all away. We are his people and yet we run from doing His will and seeking to bless Him in return. That is what we need to do most.
Look back in history to the times the future of nation was on the line. Times like the revolutionary war, the civil war, WWI and WWII, the great depression, the sixties, 9-11, Katrina, and the financial crash of ’08 when we ask ourselves why would God let this happen to his people.
The answer is God is in control He uses these times of trials and tribulations to purify us. He is doing a good work in us to clarify our rules and regulations and how we relate to one another. God controls our destiny, as a nation we can follow Him in faith as the founders did and receive His continued blessings. If we chose not to follow Him he has other options.
We cannot deny that we are a Christian nation as some would like. To do so is to invite the wrath of God, for it is times of affliction that people will earnestly seek Jesus Christ. They come to the point they realize that He is in control of everything; nothing is outside of His sovereignty.
If we seek Him as a nation He will guide us and give us strength to will and to work for His good pleasure and we will find in doing so that we are richly blessed and provided for in ways that do not fail.
The question is what more does God have to do to get our attention? What is next on the road traveled by the prodigal son that we seem to be following? What will it take to purify our collective conscience to the point that we seek to find acceptance in our father’s love? How low must we go to become humble and seek God's forgiveness and return from our evil ways?
As a nation each crisis we face when viewed in the passage of time has served as a blessing to the nation as a whole drawing us closer as a people and closer to God. Our greatest leaders have come in difficult times when they have recognized their dependence on God.
Jesus Christ is the ultimate blessing our heavenly father has bestowed upon us, GOD himself in human flesh, who came and died to take the punishment for our sins which bankrupt our souls and left us questioning why these disasters happen to us. All we have to do as a Nation is cry out to Him and admit our guilt and once again as history has shown, He will bless his people. His grace covers all.
Where do we place our faith? All the fiat money we are being asked to spend as a nation on old technologies like trains, obsolete power distribution systems, dysfunctional over crowded roadways and a medical system to emulate the under performing socialist systems of Europe, will not buy security. In GOD we trust is printed on the United States dollar for a reason. GOD is in charge of everything and we need not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. We should place our faith in GOD.
We could be on the cusp of one of the most dramatic technological, social and environmental transformations ever undertaken. All we have to do is return to our constitutional form of Government and stop funding all of the social engineering programs.
We have the opportunity to build entirely new information manufacturing and transportation economies which will create a foundation not only for our country to build upon but which can also inspire the world to reach new heights.
Are we ready to lead the world?
We no longer have the principles, manners and moral virtue to lead the world. The pervasive dissolution of moral principles and manners in our culture will more surely overthrow the lib

Anyone who does not honor their oath of office to support and defend the US Constitution should not even be allowed to run for office period. That would eliminate President Obama and the majority of Congress:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."
Presidential oath of office:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
It is in the Constitution that all must take a oath of office before the enter office. WHY shouldn't breaking the oath of office be a ground for removal?
Anyone who does NOT believe in our US Constitution should NOT be in office period or even a employee of our government or federal government for very obvious reasons.

I am must agree that the movement of the federal government to deport God from our country is not bestowing his blessings down upon us. Removal of the ten commandments from courthouse property as well as the ninth circuit court ruling that the phraseology one nation under God was not constitutional for public school has all been a glimpse of where they are coming from. Let's all remember that the founding fathers who were so wise in the construction of our constitution were very Godly men. Let's elect leaders that want to follow God and the teachings of the bible and stand up unafraid. It is then that I believe that we will again receive his blessings for our country.
That being said it is painfully clear that Obama still does not except responsibility for the state of the union and is continuing his mantra of blaming others, namely George Bush. There comes a point in every administration and he is way past it that its your, you own it. This man has no desire to take the responsibility needed to restore our greatness. On the contrary he is making bold moves to lead us down a path that will denigrate every American life for generations. This is not a dress rehearsal it is the real thing and every American needs to get involved and hear that we are being called again as we have in years past to protect our rights which government wants to take away. To preserve our freedom which government seeks to imprison. To take away our hope which this government seeks to crush. There will be no other call. If we don't vote for those that will stand up and preserve that document that protects the lives of every citizen in this country we will cease to exist as a free people. I for one can not imagine life without hope for growth and prosperity and I refuse to except that as my fate nor should you. The fight is real and it is tough but together we will win because the American spirit joined together always prevails. Please try to mentor some younger members of our population as they are not being taught in school the same principals we were. American history is barely taught anymore (unthinkable) instead they teach the kids social tolerance on family planning which is code for everything is acceptable except for God and abortion is definitely an option.
The far left target these kids because they are impressionable and without the benefit of learning our country’s history I guess they would be. It is up to us to teach them the price that has been paid for freedom and that when it is gone it’s gone. Let's keep the pressure up you can feel the wind starting to blow our way. God Bless America
