HIGH SPEED RAIL: BACK ON THE TRACKS?

Just when you think you can move on to another issue, here come the dirty tricks!

Senator Bill Nelson is evidently behind a lawsuit that will be filed Monday (tomorrow).  It will challenge Governor Scott’s decision to return the taxpayers’ money to DC that had been set aside for High Speed Rail.  Lawsuit alleges he has overstepped his authority to do so.

Are Republicans behind this lawsuit too?  If so, we have a mess on our hands both with the Liberals and the Republicans.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Read the article here:  http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/os-high-speed-rail-what-n...
  2. Contact Sen. Bill Nelson and Rep. John Mica and tell them to sit down and listen to the people.  We DO NOT want High Speed Rail and we do NOT want to pay for it.  Even if they say it will be paid with private funding and/or Federal dollars – we don’t want it!  HERE’S A BIG HINT:  FEDERAL DOLLARS ARE OUR DOLLARS!  Private funding ALWAYS miscalculates the cost and the taxpayers pick up the boondoggle.  You can reach Sen. Bill Nelson and Rep. John Mica at www.libertycentral.org
  3. Contact your State Representative and tell him/her not to sign onto any lawsuit.  Same reasons as noted in #2 above.  You can reach your Representative at:  http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/ and click on Find Your Representative tab.
  4. Contact our Governor and tell him to stand strong and don’t let the bad guys get to him!   You can reach him at:   (850) 488-7146
  5. Join us on Monday, March 8th when we Rally in Tally to Save Our State.  We will have a bus heading to Tallahassee early that morning and returning later in the evening.  No cost to you.  You’ll meet with your representatives, have a rally on the steps of the Capitol and you’ll get to meet some of the opposition as they show up in Tally on the same day.  Bring your signs, check the spelling and be responsible with what you put on them.  If you want to join us, contact our office at (904) 683-3945 and sign up today.

Let's get this high speed rail derailed now!

Nelson may try to ride the Commerce Clause on the prospect of HSR going interstate in the future.  Well, then how come this first nose-under-the-tent HSR leg goes nowhere near our state border?  He's all upset that "other states will get Florida's HSR money."  As FIT Payers, yes it is partially our money, but in this case, it would be better "returned."  Our best buy is not to become entangled in the unfunded operational and maintenance liabilities to come.  Let the other states have it!  They can't use it for any purpose other than HSR and when they find themselves mired in this unprofitability swamp, Florida can say, "We told you so," just as Miami told Jacksonville not to accept Federal seed money for the People Mover boondoggle that is a fiscal anvil on each city's back.  E-mail Gov Scott and thank him for refusing this poison pill.  And remind him that Nelson will be out of his hair in less than two years, guaranteed!  But HSR would be a loser for all of us, forever.

COMMERCE CLAUSE (1) The Constitution allows for the federal govt. to impose its power and authority by using the Commerce Clause which is Article I, Section 8, Clause 3. Senator Bill Nelson, must know that for his law suit to be successful? (2) He will in all likelihood have to meet the elements of the Commerce Clause? (3) There would have to be some form of dependency, where the people of Florida show a specific need, like in a school system where people have been denied an education. In this case dealing with high-speed rail, won't they have to show a dependency?  Well of course the answer(s) are yes to all three questions.

Steve, nice outfit.  Anyone ever tell you ya look a bit like Tom Jones?

BTW, I agree with you on federal money.  Have to admit I do accept my SS check but hell, they took the money from me since I was a lad and it certainly isn't my fault congress embezzled and squandered it.  But if push comes to shove I could live without it.  P*** on Washington.

Billie,

The Governor has spoken and we support him 100%.  It is imperative that we defeat Nelson in 2012.  All you have to do is look at his voting record to see that he DOES NOT represent his constituents.  He needs to be defeated and we think this should be one of the highest priorities in 2012.

Nelson is a major catalyst for this project, despite attempts to shift the blame elsewhere. He is one of many politicians, who must go based on the spendthrift track records. Nelson will more than likely be unseated for his actions.

If there was any certainty to the feasibility of high-speed rail projects, the private sector would have begun to build these long ago. Until there is ample demand, the free market will not supply a good or service. This is a simple economics principle that is difficult for many to comprehend.
I echo the sentiments that Nelson MUST GO. Not in the main election, but in the primary! The message will have more impact if statists are quickly swept from the process.

who will craft the amendment or can it be a simple repeal vote?  when do we start getting signatures?

The purpose for the Florida Constitution is to protect the citizens of the State of Florida, not national and international labor unions.  There's absolutely nothing constitutional about a permanent right for organized labor to have Florida provide employee pension benefits free to public employees, collect public employees' dues for the unions, then allow the unions to suck all those dues out of the state treasury and economy, leaving taxpayers holding the bill.  This sweet deal provides for huge amounts of money and advertising to permanently flow into Democrat campaign coffers and to get Democrats re-elected---so they can continue to protect financial interests and domination of unions and keep the circle going for both. There is clearly a mutually beneficial, perpetually symbiotic relationship between organized labor and Democrats.   And you can bet your last dollar that they both were up to their elbows and eyeballs in crafting the back-room-legislated stimulus bill that generated the high-speed rail transportation package now being thrust onto Florida,  And that unions will be instrumental in providing union labor for the entire process---from design to final construction---in conjunction with Democrat cronies and Obama administration-friendly vested interests.  Tell your legislators in Florida  and the U.S. Congress that we want a Right to Work state and all national/international labor unions' tentacles out of Florida's treasury and off Florida taxpayers' backs.  A large number of security personnel in Florida are represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).  Do you want Florida taxpayers' money going out of state and out of country to these labor unions?

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
