HIGH SPEED RAIL: BACK ON THE TRACKS?

Just when you think you can move on to another issue, here come the dirty tricks!

Senator Bill Nelson is evidently behind a lawsuit that will be filed Monday (tomorrow).  It will challenge Governor Scott’s decision to return the taxpayers’ money to DC that had been set aside for High Speed Rail.  Lawsuit alleges he has overstepped his authority to do so.

Are Republicans behind this lawsuit too?  If so, we have a mess on our hands both with the Liberals and the Republicans.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Read the article here:  http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/os-high-speed-rail-what-n...
  2. Contact Sen. Bill Nelson and Rep. John Mica and tell them to sit down and listen to the people.  We DO NOT want High Speed Rail and we do NOT want to pay for it.  Even if they say it will be paid with private funding and/or Federal dollars – we don’t want it!  HERE’S A BIG HINT:  FEDERAL DOLLARS ARE OUR DOLLARS!  Private funding ALWAYS miscalculates the cost and the taxpayers pick up the boondoggle.  You can reach Sen. Bill Nelson and Rep. John Mica at www.libertycentral.org
  3. Contact your State Representative and tell him/her not to sign onto any lawsuit.  Same reasons as noted in #2 above.  You can reach your Representative at:  http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/ and click on Find Your Representative tab.
  4. Contact our Governor and tell him to stand strong and don’t let the bad guys get to him!   You can reach him at:   (850) 488-7146
  5. Join us on Monday, March 8th when we Rally in Tally to Save Our State.  We will have a bus heading to Tallahassee early that morning and returning later in the evening.  No cost to you.  You’ll meet with your representatives, have a rally on the steps of the Capitol and you’ll get to meet some of the opposition as they show up in Tally on the same day.  Bring your signs, check the spelling and be responsible with what you put on them.  If you want to join us, contact our office at (904) 683-3945 and sign up today.

Let's get this high speed rail derailed now!

High speed rail runs at a deficit in every state that has it and the taxpayers have to foot the bill for the difference.  The public's majority vote in the referendum to not have high-speed rail should be the last word on the subject, unless there is another public referendum that reverses the original outcome.  Bill Nelson and John Mica know they don't have the authority to override a public referendum, so they took the political and judicial-activist back-door route---totally outside their elected positions' job descriptions.  They must not care whether they are re-elected, or are able to be re-elected after pulling a stunt like this.  I'm so surprised and disappointed in FL U.S. Rep. John Mica, whom I used to respect and admire.  If these two h-s rail lovers don't care about the good judgment of the people of Florida who voted to pass the referendum against h-s rail, and Gov. Scott who is wisely against it, they need to hear from all of us now.  And we need to seriously search for some highly-qualified candidates to run against them... candidates who are conservatives' conservatives and who know the difference between profit and loss.  Being elected to their national offices by citizens of Florida establishes a fiduciary duty and trust to all Florida citizens and they must, necessarily, put it first and foremost.  Otherwise, they've violated that duty and trust and need to be held accountable.

Questions:  1.  Can someone please define "private sector" for me?  2.  Assuming (please don't take this as a vote for high speed rail) it is approved and funded.  How long will it take to get the appropriate studies, approvals, clearances, inviornmental studies, settlement of the "not in my backyard lawsuits", etc. done and high speed rail will actually be in place?   3.  As an earlier commenter asked. if this was such an economic slam dunk, why hasn't, what I understand the private sector to be, jumped in with both feet?  4.  Finally, don't elections count any more?

Right, they claim the future losses will be borne by private industry.  If it's such a great idea, let private industry invest in the whole thing and pay for it or else don't do it.  What don't they understand about "the country is broke, there is no money"?

What is wrong with these political idiots.  Our new governor realized we don't have the money to fund this.  And the federal goverment doesn't have the money to do it either.  Why don't they take these funds and apply them to something thats necessary. The high speed rail is a nice idea if you have the funds, but right now until the ecomony is improves its not something we should do.  Along with a lot of other unnecessary projects they keep doing. Then they wouldn't have to tap into SS and Medicare.

I thought there was a public referendum on HST a few years ago, and the public voted it down.  What is it about democratic rule that the democrats don't understand?

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
