I have a confession to make.  Before I became a tea party member, I had not thought about Constitution Day since elementary school.   

I can still remember the entire class learning to recite the Preamble to the Constitution.  Each of us had to take our turn standing next to our desk and reciting it out loud.  Some of us faltered along the way and some of us had it down pat immediately.  Our teacher was helpful and as we stumbled, she would give us a word or two to jog our memories. 

When that lesson was over, we moved on to other educational materials.  Constitution Day was etched in my mind BUT I never thought about celebrating it or reciting the Preamble again!

The times we live in today have resurrected those words in my soul and I am proud to say – I can still remember the words of the Preamble.  The good seed of those teachings was just waiting there to be revived again.

Today is Constitution Day and the First Coast Tea Party sends our heartfelt thanks to those men who bravely signed their name to it.  Although they signed in ink they might as well have been signing in blood.  Their names were now on a document that could be used to end their lives.  

Although the document is not perfect, the essence of the framework is.  We the People were put in charge of their own destiny and the government reported to us.   It was a unique form of government and one that empowered the people over any one man or corrupt leadership.    Many say we are a Democracy but our form of government is a Republic.  (Hence:  our Pledge of Allegiance to the Republic…)  See more about types of government here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhG4yJByfrE&feature=related

Our form of government is now more than 200 years old and is under attack by out of control regulators from expanded branches of government.  These regulators come from EPA, DOT, DOE, and other alphabet soup departments that have taken over our rights.   Regulation Strangulation is the biggest fear of the American people and these departments and our leaders in DC have put We the People back in chains again.  Even our President has not complied with his oath to defend the Constitution.  He has abused his power by circumventing Congress to ensure his personal agenda to transform America happens.  This ladies and gentlemen is tyranny.

Most of us really just want to go about living our lives and keeping the government-man away from our door.  We just want to be left alone to pursue our goals and dreams.  America was a place that fostered dreams and in our society today – dreams are not your own.  You must now run them past the government to see if you can make your dreams come true.  They might say Yes or they might say No – it all depends on if you are a friend to those in power. 

We are all waiting for November 6, 2012 to show up on our calendar.  That day is the day we will go to the polls and vote this tyrannical government body out of office.  It will happen in the White House and in those seats in Congress who have ignored the will of the people.  That is the beauty of our Constitution.

Those brave men who signed the Constitution would be proud of the Tea Party Movement in America.  They would say – “Good job.  Keep it up.  Stand Strong.  Show them you are in charge.  Be prepared.  Watch your back.  Keep the faith.”  I am just one person and you are too but together we make a powerful voice for liberty.  They were only 39 men who originally signed the Constitution.  We are millions strong and if they can do it – we can too.  Yes we can!
