Lame Duck Ahead, Please Slow Down

The First Coast Tea Party has many blogs going on about issues the Lame Duck City Council is taking on - here at the last hour of their term.  A Lame Duck typically means you slow down and allow the next City Council to take on the larger issues facing the city.  These larger issues will take time and research for the city council members to make well informed decisions so we say "Slow Down."

Our Lame Duck City Council has decided to hobble along and not slow down.  Mayor Peyton has items still left on his desk and he wants to get them done, file them away and move on with his life.  Unfortunately when bills are passed quickly, mistakes are made and the people suffer.

We encourage the City Council to slow down - don't move so fast.  Let the next City Council take on these large issues and do so with diligence and research.

Today the City Council will meet at 1:00 to discuss the Pension Plan.  Here is an article about this Emergency meeting noticed this past Friday late in the afternoon and a link to our blog on this matter and others.  We encourage you to email, call or show up today at 1:00 with the message to Slow Down, You Move Too Fast.  Those leaving the City Council and the Mayor's office should take this time to clean out their desks, write notes to the incoming administration and smell the flowers.  No more promises to keep - just do the right thing and leave the big stuff alone so you don't make those big mistakes.

Another blog about the Everbank deal is generating a lot of brisk dialogue among members.  Jump into the conversation and see how intelligent the tea party members are.

Just a thought, perhaps if we can get a team to just watch the meetings online they could simultaneously send emails to the members on the issues as they are discussed.  They could also call their offices.  We could call them "tele-activists."

Debbie, you are right.  We can't all be at all of them.  Somehow, we need to get a plan together where we try to have someone present at all of them, but where not all of us have to be at all of them.  We can speak to the issues for others who are involved, and be watchful of anything out of the way, so others can watch the meeting on line if something alerts the person at the meeting........of course the problem is something atrocious happens at almost every meeting :).  Many folks who can't and won't subject themselves to the parking problem downtown truly can watch the meetings in the comfort of their homes on their computer and with speakers, you can listen by turning up the volume, so you aren't glued to a chair but can zero back in if you hear something that sets your back teeth on edge and you need to make notes about it.  You can get a copy of the agenda when you go to the committe's page on coj and you also are provided with a link to the live meeting on that page or you can go to the link Debbie provided.  It isn't rocket science, and If I can do it, believe me anyone can :).

Debbie, thank you for all you do.  You are one dynamite activist, and I am proud to know you!

The myriad of meetings between committees, commissions, and city council makes it difficult to stay on top of the "games."

However, they are all streamed online when they are live.

Also, here is a link to the calendar of meetings.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
