I commended Speaker Boehner on dismissing BO's proposed $400B tax increase and strongly encouraged him to not agree to raising the debt limit and/or taxes in the following words:

I commend you on dismissing BO's proposed $400B tax increase. However, agreeing to a compromise with the Senate that includes any tax increase and/or raising the debt limit is just as infuriating to us voters. I want to remind you that until the 2010 elections the three legged "Captain UnAmerica" (Pelosi, Reid and BO) wouldn't even acknowledge you existed. If you cave to Reid, you may as well not exist. The threats from the WH are empty. If BO withholds Social Security and Medicare, he will have not only the Tea Party to contend with but I expect even AARP will show up on the WH steps in protest. Social Security and Medicare are not entitlements. We've been paying taxes enacted specifically for these services to the Federal Government.

I watched a clip on the FoxNews website and heard Bill Oreilly spouting that the Tea Party may be stepping on their own toes by not wanting the Congress to relent on "Comprimise". Is it just me or am I the only one who thinks we have been waiting for over 40 years for these politicians wo get off of their duffs and do the job we sent them to Washington to do? The reason we are in this situation has to be shared by ALL of us, Dems AND Reps. We keep sending these nuts back to DC to continue their deficit spending sprees and FINALLY we have seen the errors of our ways. I think Bill Oreilly has become a pompous ass who constant berates anyone who doesn't agree with him. Look at the way he treated Michelle Bachman when she said "In no way will I support a vote to raise the debt ceiling". He was horrible to her. He constantly talked down to her. When she stated that "She had a titanium spine" he outwardly laughed at her mockingly. He is quite the elitist. His constant spouting of how wealthy HE is, and how successful HE is and how HE doesn't really need to worry because HE has made a lot of money due to capitalism is almost vulgar any more. I believe Oreilly is a RINO and does not really care about the Tea Party. I think the Tea Party is the reason we have transformed our current congressional make-up and I believe that the Tea Party will be the driving force that will remove the current administration from office and allow a "Real" American to ocupy that office. Please everyone, think about supporting term limits and supporting a constitutional ammendment to force term limits on ALL elected officials. This will be the start to changing "Business as usual" in Washington.

excellent post John. The founders ensured only those with skin in the game had the ability to vote. they knew that pure democracy was a sham as were rapidly finding out since the vote was given to any and all despite their personal integrity level. i think we should return to the constitutional decree that only land owners should be allowed to vote! whether you're a woman, black, white or poker-dot. you must have a stake in the nation and be concerned about its path in order to vote! or else you get what we have today with politicians giving away benefits to illegals in order to gain votes: Tyranny in other words!

I know this will seem quite radical to some but it has to be said.  If a person is on ANY kind of government assistance, then he/she will NOT be allowed to vote as this will be viewed as a conflict of interest.  You must know, that anyone who is recieving something for free at the expense of someone else who had to go out and earn it first, is NEVER going to vote out the politician who gave  him/her the free handout in the first place.  You will not be allowed to vote until you are off government subsistance.  In the beginning of our nation, only land owners were allowed to vote.

I like the proposal to start weening the nation of of Social Security starting with those younger than 55. Medicare can go the same way. Medicaide can revert back to being provided by the free clinics and churches. That's the way it was before Republicans started getting liberal back in the early 60's. Nobody starved to death and nobody went without medical attention.

as far as entitlement programs go i think we should basically abolish them all. they are unconstitutional, bankrupt, corrupt, and rob many of wealth. i could do much better than some beaurocrat in DC with my own money.

Speaker Boehner seems to be listening to the Tea Party especially these days. this is good news both for the Tea Party, but especially the country which has obviously been on the downward spiral for quite a long time now and it has gotten especially bad under our current marxist in chief.

Obama has proven to all Americans that he only cares about re-election and will proceed along those lines with whatever it takes to get there.  He has thrown the gauntlet down by introducing fear in our grandparents and our children who are defending this nation with their lives.  He has instituted the "Class Envy" card again and is trying to convince those less fortunate that those who have more had gotten it through questionable means.  I ask all Americans, again, to ask themselves how all of these politicians who entered this game with nothing have ended up multi-millionaires in jobs that only pay between $125k to $250k.  Does this make sense to you?

These politicians are not concerned about the debt.  They are not concerned about spending.  The only thing these people care about is their on party and their own re-elections.  That is the reason we are in this situation....period.  They will stop at nothing to remain in power.

How can this be stopped?                                                                                                                  We can demand, as Americans, that these elected representatives vote on a Balanced Budget Amendment  to the Constitution.

We can demand, as Americans, that these elected representatives vote on the Line Item Veto power for any sitting President, (including the goofball sitting there now).

We can demand, as Americans,  that these elected representatives vote on Term Limits.  It's about time that this one was finally put through.

I am watching the country I was raised in go down in flames and the one lighting the fire is Barack Husein Obama and it is high time this sad excuse for a leader be fired and not allowed to be re-elected as leader of this nation because he has no clue as to how great we actually are.

As long as we're all clear that one of the reasons Boehner walked out was because BO would NOT fundamentally change Medicare.  Boehner wants to cut Medicare and Social Security more than the democrats do.  Personally, I am in favor of cutting Medicare, as I've said previously, and I think the Paul Ryan plan should go further.  If you want to keep your Medicare as is, or you want the millions about 5 years behind you to have it, Boehner ain't your man.
