Santa could give the Post Office some pointers

I couldn't believe my eyes - the headline read:  "Postal Services Cuts Will Slow Delivery of First Class Mail."

We have watched the "government run postal service" head towards bankruptcy for years now.  As a consumer, we told them what they needed to do.  Some examples would be:

  • Cut Saturday delivery
  • Reduce the amount of postal buildings and cut back on the extravagant  buildings
  • Eliminate the union and privatize it.  The free market could fix that dinosaur in one strategic planning meeting!

They didn't listen to us and instead they are "slowing down" services to the consumer!  Let me get this straight, in order to be more competitive, you SLOW down your services and increase costs to the consumer.

The Post Office has now given us a great example of why the Government should stay out of running a business. The Free Market does NOT work inside a union-run, government-owned business where the consumers' needs mean nothing.

Santa could give them a few ideas too.  He can deliver presents the world over in ONE night!

Speaking of Santa, the First Coast Tea Party has a special treat this Tuesday night, December 6th.  As our gift to the community, we will hold an old-fashioned sing a long and Santa will be there with his elves.  Hot chocolate, cookies and other yummy desserts will be on display for your tummy pleasure.

No charge for this event.  Bring your children and your grandchildren so they can meet Santa, have their picture taken and he'll be adding your wishes to his list.  No standing in line at the mall - you can meet Santa in the beautiful surroundings the Liberty Christmas Sing A Long will provide.

Date:  Tuesday, December 6th

Location:  Zamar Conference Center -- 8493 Baymeadows Way -- Jacksonville, FL 32256

Time:  6:30 - 8:00 PM

Other fun activities will cap off the evening.

Santa loves cookies and loves Christmas music -- see for yourself in our daily Christmas music video.   Santa doesn't let anything stand in his way of getting those cookies and we hope you will not let anything stand in your way from joining us Tuesday night.  You just can't miss this one!

The USPS is legally obligated to serve all Americans, regardless of geography, at uniform price and quality. It operates the largest fleet of vehicles in the world and has not accepted tax dollars (except for reimbursements for disabled and military delivery) since the early 1980's. Privatization would allow cost savings by dropping rural service, availability to some areas and other inefficiencies,

It will be interesting to see if any private market companies try to step in and compete with the post office for home delivery.

They are closing 250 processing centers, that is why mail will be slowed. Some 3500 post offices will be closed also. The main reason the post office has failed if you study the situtation is the limits to the cost of first class mail to consumers. Were this a FedEx service it is about $20 to send a Fedex envelope to Boston from here. It would get there Thursday, guaranteed. The USPS is the best value going. We have been underpaying for it for years. Socialized mail service as it were.

There is only ONE avenue to financially saving this Republic and that is to replace the current set of idiots that the citizens  have placed in the congress and the presidency to run this country.  The only thing keeping them in their current positions is you the voter.  Get involved in the Tea Party's program to become a precinct worker starting with being a precinct chairman.  Only replacing members of Congress such as Corrine Brown and Bill Nelson will begin to make the changes necessary to turn this country around so we don't end up like Greece.   The question is and will continue to be - Are you willing to make the sacrifices that are necessary?????????

The Government doesn't want our help in reducing costs and balancing budgets w/o raising taxes.  Just ask St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners.  Many of us offered them simple solutions, but it was much easier for them to vote for raising taxes on SJC homeowners...again!  The Government-run PO...another prime example!

No worries, it's the taxpayers money and it seems their is plenty of it. There for the taking. Every agency I have known that receives our money for the most part is inefficient. The military is the only one I support. When you receive a blank check, spend it, then get bailouts why should they care. Take taxpayers money, support other peoples retirement and screw you seems to be the word for the working guy.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
