An inability to secure a rock hard win in his home state of Pennsylvania prompted Rick Santorum to pull out today. Santorum has maintained and just reiterated  last week that he was opposed to pulling out under any circumstances. But alas, the strong possibility of losing in his home state proved too much, leaving his prospects for the presidency unfulfilled. Without victory in Pennsylvania, the long shot chance of Santorum to secure  victories in the remaining primaries became beyond comprehension and the fell to fates of simple math.

This leaves just three candidates remaining, with Gingrich and Paul scoring less than 20% of the vote combined in recent primaries. The inevitable choice has become inevitable. It will be interesting to see Romney begin what can only be seen as his large swing to the center, after having campaigned mightily as the "severe conservative".

Without a viable opponent it is widely expected that Romney will begin his calculated swing to the left, erasing policies that he has previously pronounced as cornerstones. It is expected that he will soften his stance on the Dream Act and his position on Planned Parenthood, to close the wide gap he now has with Latino voters and women in particular.

I guess it is time to see what the Etch-a-Sketch guy has in store finally.

Roma, take a look at the poll numbers as they are the thing the person was indicating had been hurt by this prolonged goat roping.  Right now, not one republican is ahead of Obama in a national poll and not to long ago, 2 of them were ahead of Obama.  They have slung the mud until people are sick of it, and it has also allowed Obama to also poor mouth them and act like he is a better choice.  We need a candidate who can fight back on the Obama rhetoric instead of them fighting among themselves as no one looks good when they do that non stop for months.

Well Roma thanks for the compliment. No I don't watch videos posted here often, don't have time usually. However, you too have to make a call then. If a brokered convention leads to Paul above all others, then how can that be an attempted hijacking by Republican leaders.

Ron has never gotten more than about 22% of the vote, do you think he is the right nominee?

Roma and Tom,

There is no pathway for Paul to the nomination. To appear on ballot at the convention you have had won five states. Paul has not won one. Superdelegates are in no danger of casting their votes for him. Only Romney and Santorum willbe available to be voted on if there is a second ballot.

Santorum pulling out prematurely creates an opening for Romney that he is all too willing to exploit. And with Santorum out of the way he won't be driving anywhere but right down the middle. He will be smooching the booty of independent voters from now on. Any hope of any move to the right is gone. Romney will be driving right down the middle from now on, I pelased to introduce the flip-floppiest candidate ever. Smitten with the Mitt, not.

I do not see a brokered convention coming any longer. Many of the remaing primaries are winner take all, this is Mitt's year. But the pivot he makes in going from primary candidate to general candidate will be telling. You might see a third party arise as a result of his swing to the left.

If there is a brokered convention and this mess lasts that long, Obama will be re-elected.  The primary is now having a negative rate of return and Obama's approval is going up.  I hope, actually, that Romney gets the votes he needs, because this mess needs to be over.

Thanks for posting Amanda, and let's hope Romney doesn't do what you suggest.  If he does, like McCain, he is will lose and our country will be lost if the liar in chief gets another term.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??

If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets.  It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.

You may not be aware of the typical things they're forced to go through...…
